Mr. Morales, a local peach farmer, and Sandy White, representative from Titan Farms located in South Carolina, partner in marketing Florida grown peaches, and made their first presentation to a first grade audience at Lakewood Park Elementary.  The first graders were excited to learn how the peaches grow and created pictures to show how Florida peaches look.  As a Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program school, students were able to sample some of the peaches grown on the farm Mr. Morales operates in St. Lucie County, just a few miles away from Lakewood Park Elementary. What a yummy presentation!

Ms. Duran’s middle school students from Lincoln Park Academy participated in the Lion’s International Peace Poster Contest. The winners were selected by the Lion’s Club of Fort Pierce. First place was awarded to Zareef Mohammed (7th).  Second place was awarded to Zoey Thomaselli (8th).  Third place was awarded to Zoya Mukhamedov (8th).  Kaliyana Limear (8th) was selected as Honorable Mention.  Zareef Mohammed’s poster will advance to represent Lincoln Park Academy in the International Peace Poster Contest. Principal Jamison is proud to announce that Senior Shantal Mitchell of Performance Based Preparatory Academy placed first in the High School Division of the Dr. Samuel S. Gaines Essay Contest. Shantal aspires to attend Florida A&M University in the fall, and this accolade will will serve as a positive addition to her resume.

Performance Based Preparatory Academy has created a student-led newspaper. The PBPA Press released its first issue this past October and the students are scheduled to release one issue per quarter. All articles and topics are student-generated. October’s articles ranged from school updates, Hispanic Heritage Month, human trafficking, for or against masks, dealing with anxiety, and being a teen parent. Community members attended PBPA’s first Community Connection Luncheon on Oct. 8th.  Students were able to hear success stories and interact with different community members. They were also able to learn about some interests that our community members have and how those interests helped them experience success in their careers.

REE’s PBIS committee hosted a Winter Dance this past month! Students paid 20 Otter Bucks to attend the dance during their resource time. Dancing and fun overflowed as students jammed to the DJ and enjoyed being able to hang out with their friends. Our fabulous PTO decorated and gave out candy. An event sure to be held again and again.

Students at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition recently had a P.B.I.S (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) event. Students were able to turn in five rocket fuel tickets that they had earned for positive behavior and dress up as a twin for Twin Day. Students were very excited for this event and many students participated. Pictured is Dean Matthew Kovach and first grader Kyle May. This is Kyle’s second year dressing up as a twin with the dean. At Mariposa Elementary, Butterfly Bucks are used when students are caught doing positive behaviors. When a teacher or administrator catches a student following one of the I CAN expectations, they hand them a butterfly buck and acknowledge the specific behavior the students were caught doing. The students then place them in their butterfly bank similar to the one pictured and save them to spend on special PBIS events or to buy a special item from the PBIS store. Creative Arts Academy students used their CAST cash to participate in their first PBIS event. Students enjoyed outdoor games, popcorn, and spinning the Wheel of Fortune for prizes!

Middle school students at CAST look forward to their weekly community-building activity with their teachers and administrators, Fun Friday Kahoot! After a week of hard work in their distance learning classes, students face off against their peers and their favorite teachers each Friday to earn the title of Kahoot champion. Questions cover a wide variety of academic areas, as well as some fun pop culture trivia and our Leader in Me curriculum. A special grand prize is dropped off at the weekly winner’s doorstep.

The whole school participated in a PBIS event for making great choices at a PBIS celebration on February 26th. The students all danced and sang to their favorite songs and had a great time. These students followed the S.W.I.M. expectations at Floresta. Show respect, Work to keep our school clean and safe, Illustrate responsibility, and Maintain a positive attitude! Go Dolphins!

Panthers enjoyed a great staff vs. student dodgeball game as a PBIS incentive for this quarter! It was an exciting game and we are so proud of our students for meeting their goals!

   Students in K-5 with no referrals for the second nine weeks danced and enjoyed each other’s company at the second annual PBIS in-school dance.

Wow! What a lucky CHANCE it was to win an awesome prize from our PBIS CHANCE Opportunity Drawing Event at Mariposa Elementary. For only three Butterfly Bucks, students had the opportunity to win one of our fantastic prizes.
