Students in Ms. Lewis’ class completed a protein synthesis lab. Students traveled into the nucleus (hallway) to replicate their DNA/cookie gene. After replication, they had to produce an mRNA code for the original gene. Once the mRNA strand was created, they traveled to the ribosome (lab area) to model translation. By the end, they had a list of ingredients that they used to assemble their protein(cookie).

Constructing the small room helped students in the Building Construction Technologies program at Port St. Lucie High School marry the theoretical to the practical. After learning about safety and the names and proper use of tools, students go on to learn the basics of framing, electrical, drywall installation, repair, and finishing in residential buildings. Students are also introduced to the basics of plumbing and HVAC.

The 2022 holiday giving season was decked with purple and gold. Fort Pierce Central High School cobras, the Sunshine Committee, along with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department brought joy and smiles to children in our area. For the second year, the FPC Toy Drive shares the spirit of heart, hope, and Cobra Pride brightening our community. Thank you to all who donated time or in kind during the most wonderful time of the year.

Congratulations to the new Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) who earned their certification from the Florida Department of Nursing this week at Port St. Lucie High School.  90% of students in Mrs. Cebelak’s CNA program are now able to begin their career path as CNAs and support our community!  

The students in Mr. Devon Hagan’s chorus, along with the help of Mr. Jhanez Card, put on an outstanding Winter Musical! The solos were terrific, the song selection was festive, and the heart-warming audience sing-a-long was super fun!  

Lincoln Park Academy Orchestras presented a Winter Wonderland Concert on December 13 in the LPA Auditorium. Featured orchestras were the 6th-grade Prelude Orchestra, the 7th and 8th-grade grade Allegro Orchestra, Exploring Music Orchestra, and the High School Combined Orchestras.  This Winter Wonderland Concert featured holiday favorites such as Let it Snow, The Nutcracker Suite, Hannukah Habanera, and Dreidel.  Soloists featured included this year’s Florida Orchestra Association Concert Orchestra violinist Giselle Arana Cisneros, Daniel Dawkins on piano, and a Carol of the Bells duet performed by middle school violinists Grace Joseph and Astrid Tamariz Salazar.                  Prelude Orchestra, 6th Grade … Read More

Mr. Madden and his theatre students worked so hard this semester with Morningside Elementary students to prepare for their musical theater showcase. The house was packed and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the talent! The Port St. Lucie High School students were well prepared and handled themselves like professionals as they hosted the show. Cadets from the Westwood Academy Army JROTC program participated in a Holiday Community Service Project with Peppermint Patti’s Academy & Daycare in Fort Pierce. Our Cadets began preparing for this event three weeks in advance by bringing in new toys and wrapping them. We gave 85 new toys to the children of the daycare, whose ages range from less than a year to 5 years old. Once the kids opened up their new toys, our Cadets spent time playing with the children. Port St. Lucie High’s first Art Show was put on Tuesday, December 13th by Mr. Graham and his students! The students from Mr. Graham’s 2D, 3D, and Creative Photography courses made it a nice night to show off their talent! We have some amazingly talented artists here at PSLH that we are so proud of! Thank you to Mr. Graham for pulling their creativity out of them!

LPA Class of 2015 and 2016 generously donated $1,000 to Coach Adams and the Lincoln Park Academy girls basketball program. “We are truly thankful and blessed by this act of generosity.”

First graders at Palm Pointe had a fantastic information session with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, organized by the School Resource Deputies, including SWAT team members, Intel Unit, and SRD K-9 with demonstrations. A huge thank you to everyone that made this a special day and to our SRO officers that work daily to invest in the lives of our students. 

AICE Environmental Management students, with Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, are involved in water quality sampling with ponds and in the Indian River Lagoon. This study is conducted three times a year to monitor water quality and seasonal biodiversity. After each pond sampling, students listen to guest lecturers share about their research and how they got to where they are.

On Saturday, December 10th, 2022, The SLW Centennial NAVY JROTC traveled to Oviedo High School to compete against 28 other teams in the Area 7 (Florida) State Marksmanship Championships hosted by the Oviedo High School Navy JROTC. Centennial’s “Alpha” Team consisted of Aidan Rossell, Payton Mangine, Justin Lotak, and Jade Sikorski.  The Alpha Team finished in 12th place out of 28 teams from all over the state of Florida.  Cadet Rossell was their top shooter and earned a top team shooter medal. Our Panthers got the unique opportunity to tour Underwater Engineering Services, Inc. They witnessed a live diving demonstration in the hyperbaric tank. Students learned about marine safety and various equipment that is used for underwater engineering. Our students were fascinated to learn about various careers related to marine oceanography!
