PSLHS Theatre Students Help Morningside Students Pack the House!

Mr. Madden and his theatre students worked so hard this semester with Morningside Elementary students to prepare for their musical theater showcase. The house was packed and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the talent! The Port St. Lucie High School students were well prepared and handled themselves like professionals as they hosted the show. It’s exciting to see the next generation of talent on the rise. #futurejaguars

Westwood JROTC Delivers Toys to Tots

Cadets from the Westwood Academy Army JROTC program participated in a Holiday Community Service Project with Peppermint Patti’s Academy & Daycare in Fort Pierce. Our Cadets began preparing for this event three weeks in advance by bringing in new toys and wrapping them. We gave 85 new toys to the children of the daycare, whose ages range from less than a year to 5 years old. Once the kids opened up their new toys, our Cadets spent time playing with the children. Port St. Lucie High’s first Art Show was put on Tuesday, December 13th by Mr. Graham and his students! The students from Mr. Graham’s 2D, 3D, and Creative Photography courses made it a nice night to show off their talent! We have some amazingly talented artists here at PSLH that we are so proud of! Thank you to Mr. Graham for pulling their creativity out of them!

Palm Pointe First Grader’s Learn About the Sheriff’s Office

First graders at Palm Pointe had a fantastic information session with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, organized by the School Resource Deputies, including SWAT team members, Intel Unit, and SRD K-9 with demonstrations. A huge thank you to everyone that made this a special day and to our SRO officers that work daily to invest in the lives of our students.

Westwood AICE Environmental Students Study the Indian River Lagoon

AICE Environmental Management students, with Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, are involved in water quality sampling with ponds and in the Indian River Lagoon. This study is conducted three times a year to monitor water quality and seasonal biodiversity. After each pond sampling, students listen to guest lecturers share about their research and how they got to where they are.

SLW Centennial Navy JROTC Competes in Florida Marksmanship State Championships

On Saturday, December 10th, 2022, The SLW Centennial NAVY JROTC traveled to Oviedo High School to compete against 28 other teams in the Area 7 (Florida) State Marksmanship Championships hosted by the Oviedo High School Navy JROTC. Centennial’s “Alpha” Team consisted of Aidan Rossell, Payton Mangine, Justin Lotak, and Jade Sikorski.  The Alpha Team finished in 12th place out of 28 teams from all over the state of Florida.  Cadet Rossell was their top shooter and earned a top team shooter medal. Westwood Students’ Field Trip to UESI

Our Panthers got the unique opportunity to tour Underwater Engineering Services, Inc. They witnessed a live diving demonstration in the hyperbaric tank. Students learned about marine safety and various equipment that is used for underwater engineering. Our students were fascinated to learn about various careers related to marine oceanography! Thank you to our community partners at UESI for this experience!

PSLHS HOSA Students Have a HEART for Service

Mrs. Cebelak and her HOSA students coordinated a volunteer event with Molly’s House. Molly’s House is a home close to Cleveland Clinic that offers housing to those who have family members in the hospital or are receiving treatments themselves. They have 16 different room sizes, ranging from single beds to family apartment-style spaces. It is very similar to the Ronald McDonald housing, but an independent entity.  

LPA Performs at Disney Candlelight Processional

The Lincoln Park Academy Chorus participated in the Disney 2022 Candlelight Processional on Friday, December 9th. The Candlelight Processional, which occurs daily from November 25th through December 30th in the American Gardens Theatre at Epcot, brings you along on the incredible Nativity story. Each year a celebrity narrator takes Disney guests through the journey complete with a mass choir and a 50-piece orchestra. High school choirs must audition to be selected to participate in this very prestigious event. This is the 16th consecutive year that the LPA Chorus has been selected.

ROTC Raiders Represent PSLHS at State Meet

Congratulations to 1st Sargent Pollino and the PSLHS Raider Cadets on a job well done! Out of the 86 schools represented, Port St. Lucie High School finished 4th, missing 3rd place by a couple of seconds. Nonetheless, they gave it their all and we are so very proud of their accomplishments. Way to go Jags!

Winter Spirit Week @ PSLHS was FUN!

Students and staff had a BLAST at the Port St. Lucie High School Winter Spirit Week this year. The campus is beautifully decorated for the season and so many students and staff participated!

Troupe 6958 Rocks District Festival

Lincoln Park Academy Theatre’s Troupe 6958 participated in District 15 Individual Event Festival on Saturday, December 3rd and the students did absolutely phenomenally. Troupe 6958 came away with 15 Superior Rated Pieces, 8 Excellent Rated Pieces, and 2 Critics Choice. Their Large Group Musical Titled: Biggest Blame Fool was awarded Critics Choice for Large Group and also chosen as the Overall Critics Choice Performance Piece for the entire Festival. This means that Troupe 6958 will be representing District 15 Thespians on the Mainstage at State Thespian Festival in March!    

4th Annual Shop with a Titan Event

For the 4th year in a row, the Titan Ambassadors from Treasure Coast High School hosted Shop with a Titan at Target in Tradition. This year, the students and staff at the participating schools raised over $3000 and were able to take 30 students holiday shopping!

FPC Student Named Scholar Athlete of the Month

Delaney Bolbach was named November’s Scholar Athlete of the Month from WPBF 25 News and the law firm of Lytal, Reiter, Smith, Ivey & Fronrath. Delaney is a highly motivated Fort Pierce Central High School senior. From volleyball captain, band captain, and JROTC, Delaney has set and surpassed her high standards for success. Delaney shared that her parents motivate her to work hard now to prepare for her future. Hard work gives Delaney satisfaction and confidence while watching her growth process. Port Saint Lucie High School JROTC and Staff Spread Joy

The Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion had the privilege to work with Guardians for New Futures and Communities Connected for Kids, to collect toys for kids during the holiday season. Port Saint Lucie High School staff and Jaguar Battalion cadets sponsored many kids to make sure they have a memorable holiday season. We were able to collect over 100 gifts this year.

Westwood Art Students Honor Highwaymen

In conjunction with Black History Month, and the City of Fort Pierce’s Highwaymen Heritage Trail Festival, Fort Pierce Westwood Academy celebrated Highwaymen Week. The Highwaymen were discussed school-wide and to honor their legacy, Ms. Hoots’ Drawing 1 classes researched and executed a series of Highwaymen murals. Drawing 1 students covered a full spectrum of Highwaymen history to better understand who they are and why they are so important to the community. These students discussed the primordial Florida landscapes that the Highwaymen painted and the 13 categories that they fall into: Royal Poinciana, Ocean Shore, Breaking Waves, Fire Skies, Indian River, St. Lucie and inland Rivers, Backcountry, Backcountry Pines, Rivers of Grass, People, Stormy Weather, Moonlight on the Water, and Orange Groves.
