Cobra Yearbook Staff Takes Over Camp Orlando!

Camp Orlando is an elite 4-day journalism workshop geared toward Yearbook and Newspaper programs in high schools. The program offers multiple, interest-based tracks for students and advisors.
Ms. Emily Royo attended the Experienced Advisor Academy and collaborated with other advisors in the area. Advisors shared best academic practices along with suggestions for classroom conditions and structure in order to maximize work efficiency while balancing strict deadline management with compassion.
Co-Editor in Chief Gabriella Scozzafava (above) attended the Theme Development and Editorial Leadership classes to absorb leadership strategies for creative teams along with creating a themed package for the upcoming school year that is original, relevant, and reflective of the school’s climate.
Co-Editor in Chief Aliana Sterrett (above-center) learned valuable lessons in the Advanced Design track to teach this year’s staff. The experience featured a capstone, one-on-one critique with a professor about FPC’s previous yearbook.
New staffer Carrigan Cramer (above) learned how to research, interview, and write a story featuring Manny Messeguer, UCF alum/coach. Carrigan was awarded 3rd place for her article out of the other 40+ other schools attending Camp Orlando. Congratulations Carrigan!

The Camp Orlando workshops gave FPC’s Yearbook Staff new skills and insight into creating a legendary yearbook. The pinnacle lessons learned starts with team building and staff bonding. Once new and returning staffers alike feel empowered to share their opinions and voice their creative ideas without fear, the potential success for our yearbook knows no bounds.
