The Saint Lucie West Centennial Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Company earned the Area 7 (Florida) Distinguished Unit Award with Honors. It is the 5th consecutive year that the “Black Talon” Company has earned the “Distinguished Unit Award” and the 3rd consecutive year that they have earned “Honors”.
The NJROTC awards the top 30% of units the Distinguished Unit awards and only the top 5% earn Honors. The units earn points by participating in various community events throughout the school year, as well as competing in Drill, Academic, and Physical Fitness Events throughout the state. The “Black Talon” Company volunteered close to 8,000 community hours last school year as well as participated in 4 Academic Brain Brawls coming in 8th in the State, and 4 Drill Competitions earning a bid to the State Championship coming in 6th.
