Village Green’s Annual Trunk or Treat and Boo Bash

Village Green’s PBIS team held their annual Trunk or Treat and Boo Bash on October 20th. Everyone had a great time at this family-fun Halloween event and fundraiser. We had more than 30 trunks for kids to trick or treat from and families were also able to explore the nature trail where a number of tables were set up for kids to visit and collect more candy! The Boo Bash dance was complete with a Haunted Hallway that spooked both the kids and adults!

Fairlawn’s 2nd Grade Pumpkin Day

All 2nd grade students at Fairlawn Elementary used pumpkins to complete a hands-on math activity.  Students worked in groups to count how many seeds their pumpkin had, calculate the circumference of their pumpkin, the weight of the pumpkin, and estimate how tall their pumpkin was.  The lesson was highly engaging, and the students had a “gord” time.

LPA Fitness Litness Club Enjoys Yoga

For many Lincoln Park Academy seniors, the first semester can be very stressful with college application deadlines impending. At the most recent Friday Fitness Litness club gathering they focused on their mental health by partaking in stress-relieving activities. They made tea, did yoga, and simply talked as a group to share what had been on their minds. Mental health is just as important as our physical and we make this a priority in FLF!

Pie-In-The-Face

C.A. Moore Elementary students celebrated their 1st quarter attendance with a Pie-in-the-face extravaganza. 312 students made the goal of 90-100% attendance since the start of school. It would not be an attendance event without our Amazing Attendance Ambassador, Zion who greeted all the students and reminded them to come to school! We wish to thank Officer Goz, Dr. Jackson, Mrs. Berggren, Ms. Clark, and Ms. LaFlamme for graciously volunteering to get “pied”. And, last but not least, thank you to Superintendent Dr. Jon R Prince for coming out to support C.A. Moore students.

LPA 7th-Graders Raising Awareness of Centennial Celebration

Mr. Weed’s 7th-grade Language Arts classes helped to decorate his classroom door in anticipation of Lincoln Park Academy’s 100-year anniversary.  In the spirit of the centennial, students traced and cut out their hands in LPA colors, orange and black.  Once completed, the hands became decorations for the door’s theme, “Hands Raised for 100 Years!”.  Each hand represents a current LPA student and his or her connections to the historic school.

Samuel S. Gaines Academy of Emerging Technologies 8th-Grade Science Students Win Big!

Mr. Nicks’ 8th-grade science students have drastically improved their Penda engagement and scores after he put a World Championship Belt in play. The student who earns the most points each week gets to wear the belt for the week. Mr. Nicks even made a special section on his big data tracker to display all the winners. Mr. Nicks’ classes also use our Leader in Me mentality to create a WIG (wildly important goal) along with action steps to accomplishing the WIG and they keep it in the forefront by adding it to the data tracker.
