To celebrate Perfect Attendance for September, Morningside Elementary held a special event where students with perfect attendance got to enjoy a fun pop-up incentive: throwing water balloons at our brave Principal, Assistant Principal, School Resource Deputy, and Instructional Coach! 💦 It was a blast, and we loved seeing the joy and excitement on everyone’s faces. 😄  

Mosaic Digital Academy’s elementary students explored mixtures of solids and multiplication through hands-on activities during the Elementary September Park Meet-up. Students enrolled in this virtual platform have multiple opportunities throughout the year to meet up with their peers to socialize and collaborate through standards-based learning. September’s theme was “Fall-icious”. Students used pumpkin seeds to create patterns and structures to help them understand mathematical concepts. Building arrays allowed them to relate multiplication and division by manipulating the pumpkin seeds in a variety of ways. The air buzzed with camaraderie, like a secret shared among friends. Our annual Senior/Freshman Breakfast had arrived, and it was more than just a meal—it was a rite of passage. Our early childhood education students have been diving into the Baby Think It Over program, and it’s been a whirlwind of fun and learning! Imagine taking home a baby for a night—what an adventure! Students have described it as an “eye-opening experience,” and it’s easy to see why. Not only do they get hands-on practice with baby care (hello, midnight feedings!), but they also sharpen their life budgeting skills. It’s like a crash course in real-life adulting, all wrapped up in one adorable package! Who knew learning could be this much fun?

Ms. De Leon’s class read an article about Creative Growth in Oakland, California. Creative Growth is an art center for people with disabilities. Creative Growth gives people with disabilities an opportunity to create, socialize, and display their work in the community.  After reading the article, students had their own chance to express themselves through personal art projects.  A momentous occasion unfolded on Monday as we celebrated Coach Quigley’s remarkable 200th victory. Her 14 years at Fort Pierce Central have been marked by professionalism, unwavering dedication to her players, and a welcoming atmosphere for all. Coach Quigley has been instrumental in guiding countless volleyball athletes to success. During the celebration, Principal Gardner presented Coach Quigley with a commemorative light-up Cobra Trophy in recognition of her hard work, commitment, and dedication to our Cobra family. Northport K-8 students in Mr. Fess’ 6th grade Northstars STEM classes designed and constructed “Hobby Organizers” this week. These students have studied the engineering design process and careers in the field of Engineering. In small groups, they worked to solve a storage problem related to one of their own hobbies. Some designed and 3D printed models while others constructed their organizers using traditional construction methods. #buildafuture #careertechicaleducation

Ms. Williams-Johnson (Ms. WJ) was selected as the Elementary Social Studies Teacher of the Year for St. Lucie Public Schools. Ms. WJ will represent SLPS at the Florida Council for Social Studies Conference. She is a great representative of the incredible teaching staff at Morningside Elementary. Congratulations, Ms. WJ!

Weatherbee Mariners in Mrs. Edwards’ 2nd grade chose a Spanish-speaking country to research for Hispanic Heritage Month. Students were responsible for researching their country, drawing the flag, and writing one interesting fact that they learned through their research. Students then shared their findings with an oral presentation to their peers. Students did an amazing job throughout the whole process and learned so much from each other! 

Lawnwood Leopards are learning about growth mindset.  K-5 students attended the NED Show which focuses on character education.  The NED acronym stands for Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best.  Here at Lawnwood Elementary School we will use the NED approach as we continue to promote a culture of kindness and excellence throughout our campus.  GO LEOPARDS!  

Mrs. Porter’s Accelerated 7th Grade Math students at Lincoln Park Academy enjoyed using algebra tiles during an introductory lesson for solving equations. Students modeled equations and wrote equations for models. Then students used the tiles to solve one-variable equations. The students look forward to deepening their understanding of equations using the algebra tiles.

In celebration of a successful unit of study on Space, 5th-grade students at Village Green eagerly wanted to do a roundup of activities centering on the unit’s learning.  Students chose activities on creating an image of the sun (the Star of the Solar System), comets, and the phases of the moon, as some of their cherished learning experiences.

Treasure Coast High School ROTC cadets visited the Navy SEAL Museum, where they had the opportunity to explore the history and mission of the United States Navy SEALs. Through various interactive exhibits, cadets learned about the sacrifices and successes of our dedicated servicemen.  Titan Born, Titan Bred.

On September 17th, students and staff went head-to-head in a dodgeball game hosted by HOSA. This was part of the PSLHS PBIS reward system.  Students with no referrals were able to participate in the match and/or attend.  A great time was had by all (STAFF WON)!  

The Fort Pierce Central High School Key Club participated in the Children’s Services Council’s Book Drive. Key Club members collected over 100 books for young readers. The free books are to encourage reading over screen time in locations such as the DMV or Utilities Company where children could be waiting with their families. Key Club members earned an hour of volunteer time for donating a bag of books to the Children’s Service Council. Every child a reader in SLC! Way to go Cobras!

Third graders in Ms. Paries’ class are focused on figurative language! Students worked in collaborative groups to identify similes within the text and on task cards.
