The Palm Pointe Jazz Band had the privilege to play at the opening of the Paula A. Lewis Library on Rosser Blvd. The students were excited to perform for the mayor, city council members, library staff, and the visiting public.

Northport teachers are amazing! The seventh grade Stingrays team include Tracey Lejeune, Kat Black, Tony Mancini, Jeffrey Bennett, Angela Elliott and Heath Degiovine. Tiffany Tredor, 5th grade Rising Stars teacher, Lorri Lamm, second grade teacher along with NP Media Specialist, Lynne Gruszka are enjoying a priceless friendship and an admiration for colleagues that is not often replicated. Northport is noted for high quality, reputable and fun-loving teachers who bring out the best in their students. Northport is a great place to “make the magic happen!”
October was National Bullying Prevention Month, and PSLHS Jaguars joined the movement to STOMP out BULLYING. Students will continue to take a stand against bullying!
Students in Andrea Logue’s fifth grade science class at Bayshore Elementary explored sound energy last week. They used tuning forks to investigate how sound is produced by vibrations. Then students were challenged to use those vibrations to transfer the sound energy to the ping-pong ball to make it move. They learned that energy is never used up, but instead it changes form. In this case, sound energy was transformed into mechanical energy. Science comes to life at Bayshore Elementary!

Educators coming together to help educators is the underlying theme of this year’s annual West Gate K8 Hispanic Heritage Festival and Fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, November 18th on the school’s campus located at 1050 NW Cashmere Blvd. in Port Saint Lucie. Community members are invited to enjoy music, games, live performances, and a variety of food from 1PM to 5PM. Third grade Rising Star instructor, Lorena Wilson, and her students had a wonderful time celebrating Amelia Bedelia and Her Idioms Day recently. Students and teacher used the lesson as an extension of a study on figurative language. Mrs. Wilson dressed as Amelia Bedelia and students dressed as the literal meaning of idioms that they learned about in class. Students then invited other classes to come into the room and play “Guess the Idiom” game. This year, Northport K-8 School celebrates our 8th annual Unity Day. Students from across the VKP-8 school make posters and banners and march throughout a path pre-marked by our PE coaches. All day long, during resource time, students can be seen marching, carrying homemade decorations and singing choruses of “No More Bullies! This past weekend, Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion Honor Guard helped in assisting staff at the Children’s Emporium. The Honor Guard helped staff with supervising children, setting up games and activities, as well as, cleaning up after the event.
On Thursday, October 26, the Jaguar cadets took a trip to Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) to expand their knowledge of senior ROTC and the college admission process. With a few guest speakers from the admissions office, ROTC and a US Army Officer; the Jaguar cadets have learned valuable information about how their future should go.

Students in Mrs. Auciello’s first grade class at Mariposa Elementary used Play-Doh and toothpicks to create a 3-dimensional cube! Ft. Pierce Elks Lodge #1520 has a heart for caring and sharing, especially when it comes to the youngest members in this community. The organization’s Pantry and Backpack Program has made a positive difference in the lives of many SLPS children. On hand at a recent event were members of Chester A. Moore’s Administrative Team: Lauren Gieseler, Alisha Kennedy, and Terrance Barriner.
