We are so thrilled to announce our Student of the Month for November. Students are selected for being a good friend, improving their attitude, standing up for someone else, being a good citizen and many other reasons. Students are selected by their teachers and sometimes, by a class consensus. We are so proud of these kids! Many thanks to all our parents who attended the Student of the Month. We celebrate our students’ accomplishments as often as possible. Pictured are the Lira family attending Student of the Month for Jorge and Brian Lira.

On Monday and Tuesday, November 19 and 20, 2018, many cadets led by Cadet Captain Brianna Harris and Cadet Sergeant James Mikovsky, along with Cadet Sergeant First Class Lawrence Moleon Mathews, and Cadet Private Heaven Savinon, Cadet 1st Lieutenant Lila Meade, Cadet Corporal Ashley Armendarez, Cadet Master Sergeant Max Marrero, Cadet Private Damien Borkowski, volunteered to help the St. Lucie County Fire District in the Annual Big Heart Brigade. Palm Pointe’s Junior Beta members attended the Florida State Beta Convention in Orlando this week.  The National Beta Organization is a service based group that focuses on cultivating the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service among students. This organization celebrates students who strive to become the leaders of tomorrow. Students competed in individual and group competitions against other Beta chapters. Our Palm Pointe students placed in 17 different competitions and Laney Keys, one of our 7th grade students, was elected Beta Vice President for the State of Florida. On Saturday, November 10, 2018, our male and female Raider Teams competed at South Fork High School Area 3 Regional Raider Meet. Each team competed in all five events including rope bridge, obstacle course, cross country rescue, tire flip, and team run for the male and female teams. Area 3 Regional Raider Meet is the biggest Raider Meet of the season; it determines which team moves on to the FL State Finals. Students and families at Palm Pointe Educational Research School came out to participate in an Escape Room Event.  This event was designed to allow students to work together in solving various academic tasks that led them to clues.  These clues revealed special codes to lock boxes that revealed their next tasks.  Escape room tasks included different types of government systems, FSA Mathematical questions, language and editing tasks, and research on the inventions of Benjamin Franklin.  Students had to use black lights and QR codes to assist them in revealing the correct answers.  Both students and families had a terrific time … Read More

On Friday November 9, 2018, Port St. Lucie High School’s Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s color guard presented our nation’s colors for a Veterans Day ceremony at the independent and assisted living retirement community Harbor Place in Port St. Lucie. Commanding the color guard was Cadet Sergeant Lawrence Moleon- Mathews, accompanied by Cadet Commander Sergeant Major Victoria Diaz, Cadet Sergeant Justin Bennett as state guard, and Cadet Private First- Class Emma Lewiston as National Guard. Members of the community were thankful to have a color guard present for the duration of the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem.  

On Sunday November 11, 2018, Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion participated in the Veterans Day Memorial Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park. All cadets who attended demonstrated reverence and gratitude towards veterans and those we lost. Overall, the ceremony was a great learning experience for cadets, and students were moved by various speeches given by known members of our community. Mariposa Elementary 2nd grade students received the generous donation of free dictionaries from The Lions Club. The students love their dictionaries, and they are putting them to good use. Thank you for such a useful and appreciated donation.       

Palm Pointe students and parents really enjoyed our Fall Book Fair.  The theme this year is the Enchanted Forest.  Many dedicated parent volunteers gave of their time and talents to transform our the Media Center into a magical land filled with books and surprises.  Gnomes, fairies, and unicorns were hiding around every corner.  The fair ran from November the 5th through November the 15th.  

The Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion had the honor of presenting the colors to pay homage to veterans at Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church located at 295 SW Prima Vista Blvd. in Port St. Lucie. Pastor David Dangerfield appreciated the Port St. High School Jaguar Battalion coming out and displaying their professionalism in drill and ceremony along with bringing the attitude of patriotism and service to his congregation. The first weekend of November, Lincoln Park Academy Theater presented 13! The Musical. Over the course of seven months, the students worked diligently to learn a plethora of lines, harmonies, and choreography that resulted in an immensely fun and honest performance and a close family bond between cast and crew. This heartwarming show of friendship and morals brought the audience to their feet in applause. It’s safe to say, this hilarious piece of theater was a tremendous toe-tapping success!

Meet Maddy Polina Malizia in the November edition of Eye on St. Lucie. Polina, as she likes to be called, is a successful student at St. Lucie Virtual School who also bears the distinction of the Russian Federation National Woman’s Surf Champion. Your host, Kerry Padrick, will speak with her and with Jeanne Ziemba, Polina’s St. Lucie Virtual School principal, to find out how this impressive young champion successfully balances academics and international sports championships.  

Fort Pierce Central High School students use drone technology to keep fellow students safe. Students in Fort Pierce Central High School’s Embry Riddle Aeronautical University program are working in collaboration with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. These amazing students are using drone technology to improve safety on our campus. This is an ongoing project and we are excited to see the next phase. Northport hosted a contingency of veterans from American Legion, Post 318 and Vietnam Veterans, Chapter 566 for a panel discussion for a commemoration of Veterans Day. The program began with second grade students from Jennifer Lusardi’s class leading the Pledge of Allegiance and giving a special salute to our veterans. Miss Lusardi’s father, Joe Lusardi. was one of the honored guests for the morning panel. Drama students from Allison Barajas’ class sang moving renditions of The National Anthem and God Bless America. Handwritten poetry was read by students from Mrs. Flores’ class. On Wednesday November 7, 2018, Port St. Lucie High School’s Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s color guard presented the national colors as students said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the National Anthem. Opening the Morningside Elementary Veterans Day Ceremony and commanding the color guard was Cadet Sergeant Lawrence Moleon Mathews accompanied by Cadet Command Sergeant Major as state flag bearer, Cadet Sergeant Justin Bennett as national guard, and Cadet Sergeant Michael Schmitt as state guard. Veterans were welcomed into the cafeteria where they sat down and enjoyed various students sing songs and thank them for their service.

WCE students participated in the Kids at Hope Tunnel.  Students were cheered on by staff and community members as they were reminded that they are capable of success.    

Lincoln Park Academy senior band student Cameron Slack has been selected to perform in the Florida Music Education Association All-State Symphony Orchestra. He will be performing at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa on Saturday, January 12th. Congratulations!  

Congratulations to the following students who earned a perfect score on FSA last year and were treated to a limo ride to lunch on November 5th: 4th grader, Maria Nolasco 8th grader, Roseanne Rodriguez 8th grader, Ryan Rodriguez The students were accompanied by their parents and the SLWK-8 Administration for this special lunch!
