Dr. Donna Mills, SLPS School Board Member, was honored by the Chamber of Commerce as April’s Woman of the Month.  Dr. Mills was introduced by her daughter, United States District Court Judge Shaniek Maynard – a past recipient of the Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Month Award.  This made for a unique pairing for the mother and daughter team to both hold the Chamber’s “Woman of the Month” distinction. The Florida Department of Education selected TCHS Principal Susan Seal to serve on the Level 2 School Principal Performance Assessment Task Development Team.  The purpose of this team is to develop performance tasks aligned to the competencies and skills finalized as part of the Level 2 School Principal Performance Assessment development process. Congratulations, Ms. Seal for being chosen for this honor!

Every registered voter in St. Lucie County will receive a postage paid mail-in ballot on or about April 3rd.  This is a very important referendum to raise teacher pay, keep a school resource officer on every campus, and enhance mental health services for our children. A Citizens Advisory Committee will have oversight to guarantee every dollar goes where it is intended. Please cast your ballot and make your voice heard. Return your ballot on or before April 23 in the postage-paid envelope.

SLWCHS students were mentored by veteran Student Perks kiosk operators from PSLHS during the soft opening of the Student Perks kiosk located in Port St. Lucie at the City’s government office administration building.  PSLHS students have successfully managed a kiosk at the St. Lucie County Administration Office for two years.

Chorus and band students from across the school district performed in spectacular fashion for a full house at the Fenn Center in Fort Pierce. As part of the annual Music In Our Schools celebration, students are specially selected from among St. Lucie Public Schools’ middle and high school band and chorus programs. The composite band or chorus group is then lead by a visiting clinician. Students rehearse for weeks to sing and play at top level with their peers.
