At Southport Middle School, Ms. Tauriello’s 7th-grade science class kicked off the school year with an exciting STEM challenge!  On the first day of school, Ms. Tauriello’s class dove straight into science with an engaging hands-on challenge. Students worked cooperatively to construct the tallest possible structure using spaghetti noodles that could support the weight of a marshmallow. Important Update About Metal Detectors

  Throughout the academic year, metal detectors will be used at schools. During the first quarter, parents and students will be notified in advance about the implementation of metal detectors at their respective schools. For the remainder of the year, the use of metal detectors will be random, periodic, and unannounced.

Safety Protocols for SLPS Athletic Games

METAL DETECTORS To enhance security, walk-through metal detectors will be in use periodically and unannounced at athletic events. BAG/BACKPACK GUIDELINES Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap are permitted. Large bags or backpacks will not be permitted at any St. Lucie Public Schools football games. We encourage you to plan accordingly and bring only essential items. FOOTBALL ENTRY RESTRICTIONS There will be no entry allowed after the start of the 3rd quarter. Please make sure to arrive on time to enjoy the full game experience.
