For the first time in her 11-year teaching career, culinary instructor Christina Gedke Balaschak witnessed a milestone that marks a new standard of excellence within her program. Every upper-level and advanced culinary student earned at least one nationally recognized industry certification this year—an achievement that reflects exceptional dedication from students and a deep commitment to professional preparation within the program. Lawnwood Elementary’s Girls on the Run Team Participated in 5K Celebration

Lawnwood’s Girls on the Run Team recently participated in the Annual 5K Celebration. Girls on the Run is a program designed to empower girls, meeting twice a week to boost self-confidence, enhance teamwork skills, and focus on emotional and physical well-being for girls in grades 3-5. Each season concludes with a joyful and fun non-competitive 5K Celebration, offering participants a tangible sense of accomplishment and the confidence to author their own stories. Fairlawn Elementary’s Finest Bring Thanksgiving Traditions To Life

At Fairlawn Elementary School, the spirit of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade came alive as kindergarten and first-grade students engaged in a creative and educational project. After reading all about the iconic parade, which has been a staple of holiday celebrations across the United States, these young learners were inspired to craft their own versions of the famed parade balloons. Legacy High School Shop With A Lion

Monday, December 1st, Legacy High School held their first annual Shop with a Lion. This past month, they have been raising money to purchase gifts for elementary students for Christmas. The Legacy Lion Ambassadors took 11 Oak Hammock students, grades 1 to 5, Christmas shopping at Target. After, they wrapped them so they would have plenty of gifts to open Christmas morning. To finish off the day, they had a pizza luncheon back at Oak Hammock.

Mr. Adler’s class at Port St. Lucie High School enjoyed a fantastic, impromptu “field trip” right in our own parking lot today! This incredible opportunity arose when two kind members of the Waste Pro refuse collection crew stopped by and generously offered to demonstrate their equipment and share insights into their profession. SLWK8 sharks learn the sweet possibilities in supply chain and logistics. Mrs. Boham’s Intro to Technology students explored supply chain and logistics careers by designing a candy bar. They used the ingredients of the candy bar to trace where raw materials come from internationally and design a supply chain to get those goods to manufacture and distribute their goods to their consumer. Learning about international time zones, students used math to determine when it was a good time to call during business hours and workdays for their clients and suppliers. St. Lucie West K-8 eighth graders had an exciting opportunity to attend the Classrooms2Careers event at the SLPS District Office. Sponsored by the Treasure Coast Center for Economic & Educational Development and the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County, this interactive experience connects students with a wide range of career pathways.
