Fairlawn’s Back to School Luau

Fairlawn hosted their annual back-to-school luau Friday, August 23rd. Students, staff, and families had an amazing time dancing, playing games, and spending time together. Thank you to all those who came out for the fun!

St. Lucie West K8 PTO Back-to-School Fundraiser at Blaze Pizza

The Parent Teacher Organization of SLWK8 collaborated with Blaze Pizza in Tradition for their Back-to-School fundraiser. Parents and staff took advantage of the night off from cooking.  The PTO and Shark Nation family are grateful for the support, especially from our Proud Principal, Mr. Lezeau!

Cobra Nation Welcomes Families

With a new school year underway, Cobra Nation always finds a way to present our Cobra Best, our Cobra Pride, and roll out the Purple and Gold in style for new families and returning family members. Mathematical Sharks

Mrs. Quiles‘ third-grade students at SLWK8 explored mathematical concepts through hands-on manipulatives. This interactive approach helps them grasp abstract ideas and strengthens their problem-solving skills, making learning both effective and enjoyable!  

VGESS Takes Flight

Dr. Jacqueline Venzen and Dr. Thomas Gay, fifth-grade science teachers at Village Green Environmental Studies School, engaged their classes in conducting hands-on scientific investigations regarding paper airplane flight.  Students had to identify a problem, develop a hypothesis, plan and carry out systematic observations, outline a plan of action, and test their airplane design as they recorded their results.  Students were actively engaged in demonstrating their understanding of the scientific process as they let their paper airplanes take flight in an outdoor setting.  Students also conducted additional research regarding airplane design and which designs were best suited for long-distance airplane flight.

FGMS: Mrs. Proctor’s Class Makes Math Fun

At Forest Grove Middle School, Mrs. Proctor’s Math class was reviewing their learning goal- students will solve problems involving rational numbers and the four operations. “We are specifically working on the standard that students will add/subtract rational numbers with procedural fluency! Students are playing the head bands game in a new, cool way. Students must walk around the room, find a partner and pair up. Forest Grove Middle School Hosts STEM After School Program

Forest Grove Middle School is hosting an after-school STEM program for our students, sponsored by Mr. Tygesson and “The American Dream Factory” Students display interest levels, creativity, and inherent leadership skills that they will have a chance to develop, sharpen, and put to full use as the year goes on. Mr. Tygesson’s classroom has been arranged for a number of brand new 3D printers, laser cutters, and various printing machines for cups and clothing that every student will have access to learn and use as we prepare to launch a number of fantastic products and Brands. LPA Key Club at Work in the Community Garden

Twelve Key Club members (Rowan Crandall, Roselyn Crandall, Sydney Daniel, Gabriel Guarnizo, Damon Harris, Jeremiah Henderson, Malachi Henderson, Gilberto Mendez, Isabela Mohindroo, Jayden Nargen, Nachbi Pierre, and Jaeda Wolfgram) attended the first activity at the Community Garden today. The students were taught how to flip the soil, even it up, and place and secure the irrigation hoses. The soil was left ready to rest for 6 weeks. Welcoming New Cadets

On Friday August 9th, 2024, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion aided the incoming freshmen at open house. This was the school’s first event, the following cadets; MAJ Rebecca Guison as right guard, Cadet MAJ Sariely Yanez as state flag, Cadet CPT Alex Franchi as American Flag, and MAJ Gabriela Gomez as Left Guard, were all honored to present the colors. The cadets of JROTC introduced many incoming students and enrolled many new cadets into the program. Twenty-four new eager cadets were assigned that day. Fairlawn Fourth Graders Tackle Math

Fourth-grade students in Mrs. Ascani’s math class participated in a stand-up, hand-up, pair-up activity to discuss place value relationships among different numbers.  Students found partners and had to explain their reasoning behind the relationships they identified between numbers.

VGESS Faculty and Staff are thrilled to kick off another amazing year! Village Green’s incredible World Changers strutted down the green carpet, greeted by the cheerful cheers of teachers and staff celebrating their return! We are ready to make this year unforgettable, packed with learning, fun, and adventure. Here’s to new beginnings and a fantastic journey ahead!

Pre-Service Week at Southport Middle School

Teachers had a fun time engaged in a learning activity on empathy where they worked in pairs on a paper plate activity.  This activity demonstrated that you do not always need to know the full picture in order to have empathy.  “Empathy is seeing with the eyes of another, listening with the ears of another and feeling with the heart of another.” – Alfred Adler.

Open House at Southport

Southport Middle School teachers and staff welcomed our students during open house.  Students met their teachers and visited their new classrooms.  Our new 6th-grade families met in the gym for an orientation presentation, which included information regarding SPMS expectations, curriculum, and school activities/clubs.  Families had the opportunity to clarify transportation needs, sign up for SAC/PTO, and complete meal applications.  Families also took this opportunity to purchase school shirts so our students would be ready for school on Monday!  To beat the heat, our families finished off the night with a refreshing treat from Kona Ice!

A Red-Carpet Welcome at Southern Oaks

Students at Southern Oaks Middle School returned to school for the 2024-2025 school year with much fanfare. Students received a red carpet welcome making them the superstars and celebrities of the day. Teachers and staff lined the red carpet to contribute applause, cheers, and plenty of fanfare. Students smiled as they received high-fives, fist bumps, and hugs. Some students stopped for photos and others for interviews.
