Today, SLW Centennial High School was a sea of camouflage as staff and students dressed to honor the brave men and women who have served or continue to serve in the military. Ms. Roselin’s 6th Grade Math Class completed an escape room activity on the order of operations. This activity required problem-solving skills, understanding of mathematical terms, teamwork, and mathematical stamina. As you can see the students were engaged and focused.  

The Lincoln Park Academy Orchestra is proud to announce the following students were selected for the Florida Orchestra Association All-State Orchestras, which will meet in January at the annual Florida Education Association Conference in Tampa.   Ms. Laura Hopkins is the Orchestra Director at Lincoln Park Academy. Students in Ms. Harris’s class learned about the advantages of Capitalism and the free market over other economic systems using an interactive simulator activity. Students compare various aspects of capitalism, socialism, and communism, allowing students to experience how different economic models function.  

Ms. Adderley’s 8th Grade Critical Thinking Class participated in a Gallery Walk to identify and justify Ethos Pathos and Logos. Our critical thinking classes support Reading/ELA standards and provide students with multiple opportunities to develop and strengthen academic vocabulary.

Seventh-grade Northstars students in Mr. Fess’ STEM class dissected sheep brains as part of their “Medical Detectives” curriculum. In this unit, students learned the parts of the brain as well as its functions. While dissecting the sheep brain, students identified the different parts of the brain and marked them with labels. #buildafuture #careertechicaleducation

Thank you to our National Junior Honor Society and Yearbook members for bringing a little Halloween fun to our day! Members came to school early today to add some interactive sidewalk chalk fun to our hallways! It was great to see our students and adults doing hopscotch down the hallway and on their way to and from class!

Ms. Chappelle’s Spanish class prepared for their weather and being outside unit. Students went outside to compete to see who could find and translate the most nature/outside-related terms from English to Spanish.   

The Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion participated in the Area 3 state qualifier Raider Meet on November 2nd. The Jaguar Raider Cadets were among 12 schools from across the area. The raider competition consisted of 5 events: a 2.5-mile team run, 1-mile litter carry, obstacle course, fitness test, and constructing and crossing a rope bridge. The Jaguar Battalion Mixed team finished 4th overall, the Male team finished 2nd, and the Female team finished 1st place overall and will be representing PSLHS at states at the Florida State Raider competition in Brooksville, Florida , on November 16th!  

Last Thursday, our school transformed into a spooktacular center as students and staff donned their most creative costumes for Halloween. The excitement reached new heights with SGA’s red carpet Halloween Costume competition held during both lunch periods. Contestants strutted their stuff, showcasing their unique and imaginative attire, while the student body cast their votes for the ultimate Halloween champions. Students in Ms. Garica’s 4th grade class played the lullaby Duerme Mi Tesoro, a Puerto Rican lullaby, on Orff Instruments during music resource. They learned how to sing the lullaby in Spanish and learned by using Solfège before learning the notes on the Orff Instruments. Solfège is an exercise that uses solmization syllables. The students had a great time and were very engaged in this activity.    

Last Saturday, our students were transported back to the glamorous 1920s. Our school was transformed into a dazzling gala, complete with electrifying music, stunning photo opportunities, and delectable cuisine. The energy was palpable as students danced the night away and captured unforgettable moments at the spinning selfie podium. Last week, our senior students had the privilege of hosting a visit from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in our auditorium. This informative session provided students with crucial insights into UCF’s admission requirements, vibrant campus life, and diverse degree programs. Such university visits play a pivotal role in shaping students’ future academic and professional paths. By exposing students to various higher education institutions, we empower them to make informed decisions about their college journeys. These visits also foster a sense of excitement and anticipation for the next chapter in their lives.

Mrs. Charles and her wonderfully selfless team do it again! On Thursday, October 24, the Fort Pierce Central Medical Academy partnered with OneBlood to host a blood drive in the school auditorium. We successfully collected 143 units of blood, with each donation capable of saving three lives. Thanks to our amazing volunteers and donors, we were able to save 429 lives! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the heroes who boarded the Big Red Buses to donate! Your generous act of kindness will make a huge impact!    

The Treasure Coast High School Dance Repertory Company attended the Day of Dance at the University of South Florida in Tampa. The dancers participated in collegiate-level dance classes taught by USF dance professors and danced alongside current dance majors and other Florida high school students.
