It is only the first quarter of the year, and already so may wonderful musical events and accomplishments have occurred for students and staff in St. Lucie Public Schools!
Let’s sing the good news from the roof tops!
Treasure Coast High School and Port St. Lucie High School have brought back Choir to their campuses.
The choruses at Westwood High School and Lincoln Park Academy have been selected to perform again this year in Disney’s Candlelight Ceremony. Both schools have enjoyed participating in this prestigious event for many years and consider it a time-honored tradition of musical excellence.
The 6th Annual Giving Concert took place on October 25, in the auditorium at Lincoln Park Academy. Audience members received the gift of song/music from nine middle and high school choirs. In return, community members gave non-perishable items as the price of admission, and SLPS gave those items to Grace Packs.
Thus far, two students from Forest Grove will be participating in All State. We look forward to hearing about more of our students as notifications are received.
Susan Seal, principal at TCHS, will be acknowledged as Administrator of the Year FMEC for her support of music.
On October 14, SLPS hosted its inaugural Marching Band Showcase — a fundraiser for MS/HS bands and showcase our 5 HS Marching bands. The Steel Drum ensemble from LPA and a MS combined band performed the National Anthem at the beginning of the Showcase. The combined MS/HS bands performed a number together to conclude the program. It was another great night for music.
Marching Band MPAs occurred in late October and early November. The bands did really well and received the following ratings:
Fort Pierce Central High School – Excellent
Fort Pierce Westwood High School – Superior
Port St. Lucie High School – Superior
Treasure Coast High School – Superior
St. Lucie West Centennial High School – Excellent
Congratulations to our music program!
