Bulldogs enjoyed an evening of Civics and Science at their Title 1 Parent Night. Families experienced technology-enhanced learning through QR codes with examples of Civics EOC questions. Science focused on heavily tested standards to show families how to attack those types of questions. Fun was had by young and old alike!
Melody Hearn of the Family Care Council presented information to our Morningside Elementary students on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. She discussed the challenges and daily struggles of children and adults with Down Syndrome. To help educate the students, Melody had some hands-on demonstrations to show them how difficult it is to talk, play, write, and do everyday tasks. The students benefited from the engaging presentation and had a much better understanding of disabilities by the end of the program!
The staff and faculty at Samuel Gaines Academy recently sponsored a Winter Games family event. At least 200 families — over 400 people — attended. The opening ceremonies included teachers with their students in a “parade of colleges.” Grade level teams promoted colleges with banners as students proudly waved college flags. The family games, teacher challenges and closing ceremony that followed engaged students and families of all ages throughout the evening. Southport Middle School’s recent literacy event was well attended by teachers, parents, and students, including approximately 60 parents and student attendees. In addition to the Scholastic Book Fair, there were eight other wonderful activities for students and parents to participate in, as well as cookie decorating, pizza, popcorn, snow cones, and candy sales. Mariposa Elementary School recently held its annual Reading Night Sleep-Over. It was a literacy-filled night as 32 qualified students watched a stage play (performed by middle-school volunteers), made puppets, and rotated through various story-based activities. The school held monthly literacy sessions for parents and students. Families that attended at least three events throughout the year were invited to the sleep-over. Parents took the night off as students and staff enjoyed Friday night in school. Teachers and staff welcomed back students and parents for the 2012-2013 school year at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @Tradition’s “Open House”. Families met their new teachers, purchase planners and spirit shirts, get information on before and after school providers, pay lunch money and get information on buses. Students also visited the library to turn in their summer reading logs and families visited teachers from previous years. It was a fantastic day seeing everyone anxious to begin the new school year! Dan McCarty families enjoyed the first athletic banquet to recognize students from fall and winter sports. All students participating in extra-curriculuar activities must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA and have good behavior. Following dinner, families watched a video of Eagle athletes talking about focusing on both academics and sports. Each student then received a certificate recognizing his or her accomplishments. Sports recognized included soccer, volleyball, bowling, and track. Each coach assisted in the presentation of certificates. Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition held its third annual Music Open House recently. Parents, grandparents and other family members of kindergarten through fourth grade students were invited to attend music class. Participants experienced what a typical music class is like at Palm Pointe. Parents participated in “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”, played rhythm sticks, played drums and the Orff instruments. Bayshore Elementary School students, families and community members demonstrated an outpouring of support for Collin Cash, a fifth grade student at Bayshore who is battling Leukemia. On November 21, 2015, Bayshore Elementary School hosted a yard sale with all proceeds being donated to help with Collin’s medical bills. We truly thank everyone for the donations including certificates, baked goods, and yard sale items. Falloween Character Book Night and Parent Reading Workshop – provided reading strategies to parents to support their child at home
Happy Fall! Students in Melanie Francisco’s kindergarten class loved working on a unit about apples. They measured, experimented, and used their five senses to investigate them. Jackson Mallonee, Elijah Josheph, Everette Robinson, and Tabitha Smith agreed that the best part of the unit was making homemade applesauce.
Another fantastic kick-off to the football season and Fort Pierce Central has game day down to a science! Whether it is staff tailgating before the Friday night lights, the cheerleaders warming up, or our littlest Cobra Nation members posing with our beloved mascot, FPC has what it takes to support our team all the way this season! The PBIS Committee hosted a fabulous Fall Festival for students across campus. Students enjoyed games, crafts, delicious snacks, and a chance to spin the Wheel of Fortune!
Manatee K-8’s annual Fall Festival celebrates the hard work and adherence to school-wide expectations by students throughout October. Students in grades K-5 cheered on their teachers as they competed in various fun events. Laughter and cheers filled the air as teachers took part in activities like the donut-eating contest and Red Light, Green Light. The festival not only highlighted the students’ achievements but also fostered a sense of community and school spirit. It was a joyful reminder of the bond between students and teachers, leaving everyone eagerly anticipating next year’s festivities!

Lakewood Park Elementary students, families, and community members enjoyed an engaging and fun-filled week for Celebrate Literacy Week. Monday kicked off the week with community guest readers in each and every classroom. Throughout the week students enjoyed buddy reading, themed dress-up days, and a Family Dinner and Literacy Night event. We would like to give a special shoutout to all of the community members and families that participated to make this a special week for our students!
Mrs. Kimball’s classroom project is up and running with enthusiastic, engaged students! The POD area adjacent to Mrs. Kimball’s ESE classroom has been transformed into the Falcon Learning Village. There are 7 stations for the students to interact with hands-on equipment. The Grand Opening took place on February 2nd, with nine students entering the Falcon Learning Village with awe and amazement on their faces. They circled around as they took in each learning station: the Falcon Pet Care, Automotive Shop, Workshop, Medical/Dental Clinic, Art Club, Fresh Market, and Kozy Kitchen with such excitement! Northport is a very lucky school, and our children are well thought of throughout our community. One of our community partners, First Baptist Church of Port Saint Lucie or 1 PSL Church, collaborated with another Northport community partner, First United Methodist Church of Port St. Lucie, to bring a fabulous summer reading program to our students.
