Indian River State College is launching a new program, Project STAGE, designed with the goal of supporting students with intellectual disabilities (ID) and their families while students pursue education and gainful employment in their chosen occupation. Project STAGE, short for students transitioning to academics and gainful employment, is now accepting applications for students. Students with ID often have many resources available to them while enrolled in the K-12 system but few resources when they enter into the postsecondary environment. St. Lucie Public Schools and Indian River State College work in collaboration to provide students with opportunities to experience a college campus, speak with individuals on site, and establish robust goals for their future.  Students recently participated in a 2017 Men of Color College Tour. Many former Fort Pierce Central High School students served as mentors for the tour.  These gentlemen are pictured here with Indian River State College President Ed Massey.  

Many of St. Lucie Public Schools’ families enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving thanks to the generosity of our friends at the Fort Pierce Elks Lodge #1520.  According to our partner in education Lenny Smallacombe, “Chester A.
