Inspiring Tunnel to Towers Run

Stephen Siller: Tunnel to Towers Run The Tunnel to Towers run is an event created two years after the occurrence of 9/11. The event symbolizes Stephen Siller’s final footsteps running in full firefighting gear from the foot of the Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. It pays homage to the 343 FDNY firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and thousands of civilians who lost their lives on the ill-fated day of September 11, 2001. Homecoming Reunion At Southport

We were extremely honored to help Private First Class Kimberly Foulk, United States Army, to surprise her children after being deployed for the past seven months. St. Lucie Public Schools is participating in the Healthy Schools flu vaccination program. Flu vaccinations will be provided to children while they are in school at no cost. Healthy Schools is scheduled to be at our schools during the week of October 17-20, 2017. Celebrating Custodial Day at Lakewood Park

The custodial staff at Lakewood Park Elementary were treated to a lunch and dessert for all of their hard work.  Not only do they care for the school on a daily basis, but they also supported the school and residents when the school was used as a shelter for Hurricane Irma. Thank you for all the hard work!

Dads, Take Your Child to School Day

The Dads of White City Elementary enjoyed spending time on campus.  Our Dads ate breakfast, watched the morning show and learned about the grade level expectations.  It was a magnificent morning well spent with the Dads of White City Elementary.

Festival Celebrates Science on the Treasure Coast

The Indian River Lagoon Science Festival returns for the fourth annual event. Each year since 2014, the Indian River Lagoon Science Festival has given Festival-goers the opportunity to explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through hands-on, minds-on activities. The Festival will return to the Treasure Coast on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Mariposa Elementary Enjoys Barnes and Noble Reading Night

Mariposa’s reading night at Barnes and Noble was a huge success. Mrs. Brie Lamb read Tacky the Penguin to the students and Mr. R. Craig Logue also read a story. Anthony and Angel Castro are seen decorating and enjoying their cookies while Joandre Sanchez and Leonel Ineus shopped with their parents. SLWK-8 First Graders Learning about Technology

Over the summer, Mrs. Nemeth, 1st grade teacher, received five tablets for her classroom through a Donors Choose proposal. Seesaw is a student-driven digital portfolio that empowers students to independently document what they are learning at school. Students can use photos, videos, drawings, text notes, links, and the recorder to show what they know. After publishing a piece about Fall, students were able to take a picture of their work and record themselves reading it. Families also have the ability to see their child’s work through the Seesaw app and respond with comments and likes.
