The inaugural Male Youth Summit at Performance Based Preparatory Academy was a collaboration between the Bethune-Cookman University’s Male Development Institute and the Omicron Tau (Treasure Coast) Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Male students in grades six through twelve attended this event and participated in breakout sessions covered topics such as: dressing for success, grades, mental health, and time management.    

Palm Pointe K-8 Rockets continue to soar as our middle school history students were proudly recognized at the district’s History Day awards ceremony. Their hard work, creativity, and deep understanding of historical concepts resulted in outstanding achievements across multiple categories. Collectively, Palm Pointe students earned first place for group documentary, first place for group performance, and second place for individual exhibit, showcasing excellence in research, collaboration, and presentation. Third-grade teacher, Mrs. TenEyck from Village Green Elementary, is using the rain Port St. Lucie has experienced the past few weeks to help engage her students in fun and interactive activities in her science class. They are using natural resources from around the campus to create an indoor habitat for tadpoles to mature into frogs- her students have been enjoying learning about the different stages of development! It’s always great when teachers can incorporate resources from around campus to get the kids involved!  

Oak Hammock K-8 6th grade virtual band students’ final project for the year taps into their creativity and ingenuity. Students were asked to create their own musical instruments from household items such as jars, cups, bowls and pots.  The students filled their items of choice with smaller objects to create different pitches, rhythms and dynamics. 2022 SLW Centennial graduate Olivia Kaes was honored Saturday by ESPN106.3 at Keiser University as part of their annual Top63 event. This was the first ever year in which they honored flag football players as part of their special night highlighting athletes from Boca Raton to Vero Beach. Olivia, who is Centennial’s all-time leader in attempts, completions, passing yardage, and passing TDs, was recognized as the #8 overall player in the region. Students in Mrs. Eibl’s second grade class read THE MOST MAGNIFICENT THING this week in class. It’s about a girl who has a plan to build something but she can’t get it just right! She overcomes obstacles and manages her emotions in order to finally build The Most Magnificent Thing. Students had fun planning, designing, and building their own projects!

Students at Floresta Elementary were truly awestruck by the captivating and mesmerizing tricks performed by the Magician Jamie Porter as part of the school’s Positive Behavior Intervention & Support. Students were charged 15 Dolphin Dollars to participate in the magic show which was held in the school’s cafeteria, on Friday, May 17. The magician performed amazing card tricks and tricks with bags and ribbons that boggled students’ minds.  Some students described the event as entertaining and exciting, while others said that the magician was very funny.  All in all, the magic show was a refreshing and delightful experience for the students at Floresta Elementary School. Lakewood Park Falcons congratulates Brendan Mackey for PERFECT ATTENDANCE for 4 years straight! Way to go Brendan!!

Students raised money last week for PBIS incentives. Students placed their donations in the jar(s) of the teacher/staff member(s) that they wanted to see get a pie in the face. The winners of this contest were: Mrs. Walukiewicz Mrs. Gomez Deputy Duren Ms. Steward Ms. Fisher Mrs. Rivera The pie-ing took place in the cafeteria on Thursday, September 9. Three students from each class had the opportunity to purchase a ticket to attend. Tickets cost 30 Falcon Bucks. In addition, one student from each grade level got to pie a teacher/staff member. All other students watched via TEAMS.

Fourth-grade students at Lakewood Park Elementary had an incredible time at the Smithsonian Ecosystem Center. During this field trip, students visited the aquarium, explored the touch tank, and experienced seining. They enjoyed learning and interacting with ocean wildlife!

Lakewood Park Elementary hosted their first Drive-in Movie Night sponsored by the PTO. Students created their own cars and left nothing to the imagination.  Great job students!
