Morningside Elementary school students and teachers honored Veteran families by holding an assembly.  Students from all grades greeted the Veteran guests as they entered the school building and the students in the Gifted Program created skits, read poems and sang songs to honor the individuals who have served or are currently serving in the Armed forces.  Veteran guests appreciated the recognition and enjoyed the assembly.

The Forest Grove Middle School Honors Geometry classes learned how triangles and their points of concurrency assist in solving one of the most important problems in the world – supplying rural communities with clean water!  Students studied areas of the earth in need of clean water and the traditional ways of bringing clean water to these areas. They then studied points of concurrency and used those points to determine optimal locations for places to dig wells or provide point source filtration.  Pictured are Colin Lawrence and Sydnee Rubenstein (left to right) sharing their discoveries about Kenya, Africa.

Third grade students at Mariposa Elementary worked in partnership with the Fort Pierce Westwood Academy students.  Collin Heatherington, Devin Gorzong, Wendy Zepadta, Zhanè B, Allison Kholer, Lena Shingledecker, Julia Haney, Samantha Watson, Clovis Wilson, and Nayeli Fernandez built four raised garden beds for their fellow Mariposa Monarchs.  Students across the campus will participate in the care of the gardening beds. On November 1st, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion cadets participated in a parking detail honor guard for our last home football game against the Centennial High School Eagles. They directed traffic to the appropriate parking lot, carrying out their task efficiently and effectively in one of our busiest games against our rival school.  The cadets ran this event smoothly and independently without additional administration. On October 31st, 2019, select cadets from our Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion Raider Team volunteered to support Southport’s quarterly PBS carnival. Ten cadets, who previously attended Southport, monitored bounce houses and obstacle courses while promoting the program to students considering JROTC the following year. Cadets featured in the pictures below are Cadet Private Robert Pollino, Cadet Sergeant First- Class Alexis Wilson, Cadet Private Catherine Caballero and Cadet Private Mery Fuentis. Mariposa Elementary School’s teachers and students celebrated Storybook Character Day with a parade. They showcased their favorite storybooks and dressed as their favorite characters. In the classrooms, students read their stories to each other, and enjoyed some treats. Lauren Rocha dressed up as Little Bo Peep and showed her book proudly. Guidance Counselor- Ms. Baliton, Asst. Principal- Ms. Patton, Math Coach- Ms. Henderson, and Literacy Coach- Ms. Almeida dressed up as their favorite story book character as well. It was a great day for literacy fun (and dressing up) at our school.    

Did you know that 95% of U.S. adults support organ donation but only 58% are registered as donors?   Currently, there are 5,938 people in the State of Florida waiting for an organ.  St. Lucie West Centennial HS HOSA students are looking to change those statistics. Last week students from clubs across the TCHS campus participated in Halloween for the Homeless. Students went door to door in their neighborhoods collecting non-perishable items for donation to our school’s food pantry, and the Salvation Army. We had the most memorable event celebrating our Veterans and First Responders at Oak Hammock K-8 School. It was a privilege to welcome our guests to enjoy Mrs. Isenhower’s Band Performance, Mrs. Allen’s Choir, and Operation Osprey Cadets Color Guard led by Mrs. Bozzo. Congratulations to Lincoln Park Academy Senior, Callie Zheng for being selected as Fort Pierce Rotary Club, Student of the Month for October.  Callie is a graduating with a weighted GPA of an awesome 6.22.  She is the daughter of Quan Zheng and Wei Cai. The students made connections between the text of a story and the visual/oral presentation of the text. It was another terrific day of learning at Lawnwood Elementary School.

From the kitchen to the community, Cowboys Cares is helping to grow and unite our diverse community through collective outreach and activities. Their first community event included hosting the Kindergarten pumpkin carving contest on Wednesday at Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie.   Cowboys was happy to donate the pumpkins for this event. There was also a Cowboys catered lunch for all kindergarten teaching staff on Wednesday. CAST appreciates the commitment from Cowboys and giving back to our school.  

Palm Pointe First Grade students celebrated their love for reading and learning new vocabulary words by making their assigned word come to life during a vocabulary parade! Students came dressed in a costume that exemplified their word.  They had an opportunity to share their word with family members and other students by marching across the stage and presenting their word to everyone.  We can’t wait to see our rockets use these new words in their speaking and writing.
