October 31st culminates National Bullying Prevention Month. To showcase the many students that go above and beyond to “be a buddy, not a bully”, we launched our “Level Up, Buddy Up” student initiative. Teachers were on the lookout for students who they witnessed being kind, helpful, or upstanding towards a fellow student. Students were recognized by having their picture taken and displayed on the “Buddy Up, Level Up Wall of Fame“, and their names were entered into a drawing to win a prize. Students at Oak Hammock K8 continue to Level Up!
On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, Fort Pierce Central High School senior Aristhene Thelisnort and his IRSC partner Justin Stolaj won first place in the Sunshine Kitchen Cook-off sponsored by the Treasure Coast Education and Research Development Authority. Both students won a 1,500-dollar scholarship to be used to further their education. The winning dish was a Panko-crusted Tuscan chicken roulade with a tomato cream sauce, French pureed garlic potatoes, and sautéed broccoli with diced carrots. Congratulations Aristhene and Justin!

HOCO as we now know it, or homecoming for many of us nostalgic types reading this, is one of the fall’s most celebrated times in high school. The Fort Pierce Central Medical Academy partnered with One Blood to host a blood drive on Thursday, October 26, in the FPC auditorium. Thank you to the heroes who boarded the Big Red Buses to save lives. Every two seconds someone needs blood in our country (American Red Cross, 2023). Mrs. Saulnier’s 1st grade class learned about data points and frequency by charting their favorite pie. Students sampled pumpkin pie, apple pie, and cherry pie. Then students plotted their data points on a picture graph. Students also represented their data with tally marks and compared different types of pie using data! SLWK8 third-grade students in Ms. Owen’s class completed an extraordinary Escape Room all about Area and Perimeter! Students worked collaboratively to complete different mathematical tasks, as they navigated to “escape” in time. Excellent teamwork and strategy, Sharks!
The fourth-grade students at White City had a great time making the most of the beautiful weather as they took their reading activity outside to read their parts in the drama “Peter Meets Wendy.” Once the play was over, the students collaborated to summarize the story.

Ms. Dvir from PNC, in partnership with Read for the Record, visited Ms. Budhram’s and Ms. Dalis’ VPK classroom to read the story “With Lots of Love”. This story was wonderfully written and illustrated to give students a glimpse of what family means, finding ways to stay connected, and sharing love across distances. Ms. Dvir enjoyed sharing stories about her own family and the special things they like to do. Students thanked Ms. Dvir with personal pictures of their own family and things that they love. CAM’s staff enjoy working together. We know how to bring fun into the building. Each team was tasked with decorating a table and providing treats for students who earned 60 ClassDojo points. The students had a spooktacular time getting treats!
The Pathways to Becoming a Physician or Scientist event was held at Lincoln Park Academy and live-streamed for students at the other high schools. Students from high school CTE and science classes from all over St. Lucie Public Schools participated as either live or as virtual audience members for the event. Additionally, middle school students within the Allied Health program at LPA also joined. This event was co-hosted by the Career & Technical Education (CTE) and the Science Curriculum departments.
