ST. LUCIE COUNTY – St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) looks forward to welcoming all students and staff back to school on Monday, October 10th.  The School District will resume normal operations which includes transportation as well as before- and after-school programs and activities. MSE Bowls for Kids’ Sake

Our MSE Blue Jays glowed with joy and pride at this year’s BBBS Bowl for Kids’ Sake event on Saturday, September 24th at Superplay USA!  Fun was had by all at this neon/glow in the dark themed event. Our team raised $636.62 for the cause!  

Getting to Know you at Mariposa Elementary

Mariposa Elementary students in Mrs. Michelle Smith’s 1st grade class took silly pictures with their new table team mates as a way to get to know each other! Students enjoyed the photo booth and laughed through all the pictures as they asked “getting to know you” questions to their new friends! Table team mates Lucia Costello, Zykeria Reynolds, Malaki McAdams, Kacen Maggard, and Michael Soto are enjoying getting to know one another in this picture.

Bayshore Elementary Welcomes Dads!

Bayshore Elementary School participated in Dads Take Your Child to School Day on Wednesday, September 28.  Dads, stepdads, grandfathers, uncles, and many other male role models  were welcomed into the school’s media center.  All of these important role models made a commitment to remain actively involved in their children’s education.  They also learned about ways to volunteer while enjoying a light breakfast.  Bayshore thanks the more than 300 male role models who attended! Students Lead the Way at MSE

Morningside Elementary’s fifth grade student-led conferences received high marks on evaluation forms.  Write-in comments included feedback such as “very informative” and “it was great.”  During the 30-minute conference, parents and students were shown how to access the St. Lucie Public Schools website; the MSE website; the Skyward site; and lastly, the 5th grade 2017 t-shirt, “Think Outside the Box,” was revealed. Then students shared their work, scores on Reading Counts, goals, and interactive notebooks with their parents and grandparents.  Finally, all the students and parents signed garden pots as our 2017 contribution to the 5th grade garden. Morningside Dads Take Your Child To School Day

Donuts for Dads was a great success at Morningside Elementary.  Dads, grandads, uncles, and some moms brought their students to school from 8:15-8:45 am.  They enjoyed doughnuts and coffee with their students in the cafeteria and in classrooms across the campus.   .

What a wonderful “Northport Dads Bring Your Child to School 2016” event. The kids were thrilled to have dads walk them to classes and to introduce them to their teachers and their friends. Dads Take Your Child to School Day

Lakewood Park Elementary dads participated in Dads Take Your Child to School Day.    Fathers and male caregivers brought their child to school, signed a pledge of involvement, and truly demonstrated the value of their involvement in their child’s education. Student were thrilled to have their dads bring them to school, eat breakfast with them in the cafeteria, and walk them to class.  Thank you to all who participated.

White City Elementary celebrates “Dad Take your Child to School Day” as we welcomed over 100 dads.  Dads ate breakfast with their child, visited classrooms, and followed morning routines.  Then Dads were able to meet in the Media Center to gather information on the White City Elementary sight words expectations, I-Ready, and sign their Dad’s Pledge.

Jaguars at the Atlantic Raider Meet

Port Saint Lucie High School’s JROTC Raider Team traveled to Atlantic High School to compete in a Raider Challenge. The competition consisted of back to back events starting with Rope Bridge and a physical fitness test (PT). During the PT test the team had to complete a total of 500 push-ups, 500 sit-ups, and 100 pull-ups.  The rest of the events consisted of a ½ mile litter carry with 80lbs of weight, move 6 30lb dumbbells and a log of over 250lbs from 200 yards, flip a 300lb tire 100 yards, and finish by running ½ a mile to the … Read More

Fort Pierce Westwood High School would like to recognize and celebrate one of our teachers, Mr. James Norcia. Mr. Norcia created a motivation plan known as the “The Raceway Contest” which has made its way onto the Reading Plus© Training Site – Creating Motivation Plans.  Mr. Norcia developed this plan last spring during our initial implementation of the Reading Plus© program. Bus Drivers Breakfast Held at Palm Pointe

Every year Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition hosts a breakfast for the school’s bus drivers.  Drivers and aides that come to our school each day are invited to come and enjoy a fun morning with a delicious hot breakfast. A PowerPoint presentation is also shared with the drivers going over the P.B.I.S. (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support)  expectations for the students. All drivers go home with a gift to show how much they are appreciated.  Raffle prizes and a game were also part of the morning’s festivities. Bright and Beautiful Reading Therapy Dogs Thrill @ Northport!

Wonderful things with literacy are happening in the K-2 section of Northport! This week is “National Dog Week!” In honor of our children building literacy skills in a fun way and dogs, Star Bright Therapy dogs have been visiting classes and titillating children to read. Reading therapy dogs have visited the classes of April Smith, Michelle Sharrah, Elaine Lawrence, Michele Kemp, Jennifer Lusardi, Deb Day, Denise Fields, Rose Rumer, Lorelle Ceville, Angela Rodriguez, Renee Immordino, Pam Mishler, Shana Cicio and Lorri Lamm. TCHS Key Club and The Gardens

TCHS Key Club had their first event on Sept. 18.  This was an orientation of the St. Lucie Botanical Gardens.  Students learned about the Gardens, how they are kept, and how to volunteer. The Botanical Gardens hosts a variety of events, but have always welcomed TCHS!

Mariposa Elementary First Grader Refused to Give Up!

At Mariposa Elementary, Mrs. Linda Auciello’s 1st grade class was working on counting on and writing their numbers through 30. Student Tyler Rubenstein took this request to an ultimate level and counted all the way through the number 120. It took him five white boards to write them, but he was determined to show what he knew and refused to give up!

PSLHS JROTC Remembers Our Missing Americans

The 25th annual POW/MIA ceremony was hosted by Chapter 556 of the Vietnam Veterans of America at Veterans Memorial Park.  Cadets from the Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion showed their support and paid their respects to our missing and captured veterans. This ceremony showed our appreciation to the people who defended our country and recognized that we will never forget them. Present at the ceremony was a table set for one.
