Samuel S. Gaines Academy of Emerging Technologies has been awarded a UBTECH Early Innovator Grant! SGAET is the first and only school  in Florida to be awarded an Early Innovator Grant, and just 23 schools across the nation received the award. UBTECH Education is a division of UBTECH—a global leader in intelligent, humanoid robots for consumers, business, and industry. Now, students will have the opportunity to work with UBTECH Robotics UKITs to practice engineering, coding, and apply their understanding of science and mathematics to create fully functioning robots. The students at CAST participated in the international peace poster contest held by the Ft. Pierce Lions Club.   The theme for this year was “Journey of Peace”.  Our students were able to express their vision and interpretation of peace through their drawings.  Their artistic interpretations were remarkable!  All of our students’ artwork were displayed in the Zora Neale Hurston Library and winners were announced at the Lions Club December meeting. 1st place -Angelina Miller 2nd place-Jessica Perez 3rd place -Andrew Peters Honorable Mention-Naomi Kazama Congratulations to all of our participants and our winners!

NPK8 Culinary students assisted Fort Pierce Central’s Culinary students to prepare for the Master Gardeners of SLC luncheon today. Well ✔ Done!  Great job to Mrs. Rachel Savela and students! You make Northport proud!

Northport students experienced a wonderful and festive time at the annual Port Saint Lucie Rotary Club Christmas party. Students were treated to lunch from the Olive Garden, met Santa Claus and received gifts. Thanks to Diane Crumpton and Tammy Boston for escorting our students.

Palm Pointe 4th – 8th grade BETA members soared, at the 2019 BETA Florida Junior Convention! So many memories were made, as these students represented our school with poise, determination and creativity. Our very own Laney Keys, Vice President of the Junior Beta for the State of Florida, commanded the stage several times and our students were recognized for 18 awards in the various categories! The students loved the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to service, leadership, character, and academic achievement. Ms. Duran’s middle school students from Lincoln Park Academy participated in the Lion’s International Peace Poster Contest. The winners were selected by the Lion’s Club of Fort Pierce. First place was awarded to Zareef Mohammed (7th).  Second place was awarded to Zoey Thomaselli (8th).  Third place was awarded to Zoya Mukhamedov (8th).  Kaliyana Limear (8th) was selected as Honorable Mention.  Zareef Mohammed’s poster will advance to represent Lincoln Park Academy in the International Peace Poster Contest. Fairlawn Elementary’s Student Council sponsored a food drive to benefit those in need on the Treasure Coast.  In one week, the school was able to gather more than 1,100 pounds of food!  

Bayshore 5th graders, along with their families, celebrated their division fact fluency! Students earned pieces of an ice cream sundae as they worked their way up the “fact ladder” during weekly timed quizzes. Once they earned enough sundae pieces, they earned an invitation to the party! We loved celebrating their hard work. Congratulations to those that earned this delicious experience!    

On November 16, 2019 the Port St Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion Male and Female Raider teams competed at the state level at Boy Scout Camp Flaming Arrow in Lake Wales, FL. The teams went through physical and mental challenges and overcame a lot of different tasks to get through the competition.  Many of our teams persisted on even when they were past their breaking points. They performed with the most effort and determination to accomplish their tasks. The events they competed in were Rope Bridge, Cross Country Rescue, Tire Flip, Team Run, and finally Obstacle Course. Lawnwood Elementary Families enjoyed TACO TUESDAY during the schoolwide Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration.

All year long, Kindergarten Rockets have been tending their garden of fresh herbs, vegetables, and greens.  Students were excited to harvest some of their produce to create fresh, homemade salsa using cilantro and green peppers from the gardens.  To quench their thirst, they also made a lemonade that they incorporated fresh mint into. Students, parents, and family members all came to see the bounty they prepared and to check out their gardens.  Everyone joined together at a Friendship Feast where our Rockets serenaded their families with songs of thanks and friendship. Northport is so proud to announce our November Navigator of the Month award recipients. The students selected have exhibited all the qualities that our teachers and staff are looking for in a fine student. Integrity, commitment, honor, being a great friend, stopping a bully or understanding and role modeling the word service. We are so proud to celebrate, along with our parents and grandparents and to make sure that our students know what it means to be a great Northport kid! Good job everyone!

Northport is thrilled to present Cindi Cairo as our Adult Volunteer of the Year for 2019-2020. Cindi has volunteered at Northport for the last three years. She has assisted in the kindergarten and in third-grade. One of the jobs that Cindi helps with at Northport is assisting in small group centers for math. She is innovative in her modeling methods for math. She makes up new games to help children learn multiplication tables.
