Cultural Food Project: World Language As part of the World Language curriculum, students participated in a Cultural Food Project designed to celebrate and explore their heritage. Each student selected a dish that represents their cultural background or a cherished family tradition. The project was divided into two components: a written portion and a culinary presentation. In the written part, students researched and described the history, ingredients, and cultural significance of their chosen dish. They came just shy of the win—but absolutely captivated the judges with their creativity, skill, and artistry. St. Lucie West Centennial students in AICE Sociology explored the Sociology of Halloween through a critical lens. Their research examined gender differences in costume choices, the historical evolution of Halloween celebrations, and how societal growth has shaped the holiday. They also analyzed the role of consumerism and the reinforcement of gender stereotypes through costume marketing and selection. Centennial Eagles are soaring to new learning opportunities.  Our St. Lucie West Centennial High School Early Childhood students have been actively learning through hands-on experiences. Over the past month, they completed their Baby Think It Over lessons, with some even taking the babies home for the weekend. As part of the unit on Culinary Math and Product Identification, students stepped beyond the pages of the textbook and into a fully immersive, hands-on experience in the kitchen. Instead of reviewing material in a traditional way, students worked collaboratively in small teams to identify various types of small wares, kitchen equipment, and cutlery. Our talented Culinary Arts students poured their hearts into creating a stunning fall-inspired menu that impressed every guest in attendance. From Thanksgiving sliders and antipasto skewers to arugula salad with watermelon and feta, each dish reflected the students’ creativity, skill, and dedication. St. Lucie West Centennial High School students in the Cambridge AICE A-level Marine Science participated in “A Day in the Life of the Indian River Lagoon”. This was an experiential research program where students and environmental experts collaborated in the collection of water quality data and biological inventories along our local estuary.  Students actively engaged in hands-on field techniques to measure chemical, physical, and biological parameters to determine how their local piece of the estuary fits into the larger ecosystem.
