2017 Florida Art Education Association Award Winner!!!

Caroline Duran, Art Teacher at Lincoln Park Academy has been recognized by the Florida Art Education Association (FAEA) as the 2017 New Professional Award winner. The FAEA program recognizes individuals who have achieved the highest level of professionalism in art education and shows appreciation for their contribution to the association and its mission. Ms. Duran, along with 17 other award recipients from throughout the state, will be honored at the FAEA Awards Breakfast on Saturday, October 21st from 7:30-8:30am in St. Petersburg, FL. Congratulations to Caroline Duran for her dedication to her students and her craft!

Lincoln Park Academy Senior, Sebastian Suarez Meets the Challenge of the US Congress!

Congratulations to LPA senior, Sebastian Suarez, for earning Congress’ only charity, the Congressional Award.  Sebastian completed over 400 hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal development and 200 hours of physical fitness over a 24-month period, to include a 5-day, self-planned trip to New York City, where he explored the various cultures that helped shape the formation of the city, to garner this prestigious award and meet his personal goals. LPA Graduate Dr. Sizemore-Ruiz Comes Full Circle

The nationally known cardiologist, Dr. Tiffany Sizemore-Ruiz, Class of 2003, returned to Lincoln Park Academy to dispense nuggets of wisdom to the eighth-grade graduates of 2017.  She delivered the message that all lessons learned in eighth grade were relevant as she shared anecdotes of the hard-tack lesson from Mr. David Perry’s eighth-grade history class, as well as algebraic strategies taught to her by Ms. Chinn. LPA Creative Writer Wins at IRSC

Isabelle McConville represented Lincoln Park Academy in IRSC’s annual Creative Writing Contest. She won 1st place in the 10th grade category with her short story titled “When We Fall.” The award was presented at IRSC’s main campus during a reception for writers on March 30th. LPA Impresses at Leadership Conference

Members of the LPA Health Occupations Students of America, or HOSA Club, attended the 2017 State Leadership Conference in Orlando between April 7th and April 9th.  The Club was represented by Kassandra Sanz (senior),  Adriana Sanz (sophomore), Diana Ion (senior), Catiana Romain (senior) , and Club Advisor Mr. Sadlocha.  While there, Kassandra Sanz was recognized as a bronze recipient of the Barbara James Service Award for community service and for placing 10th overall in the Healthcare Issues exam.  In addition, Adriana Sanz placed 2nd overall in the Courtesy Corps volunteer category and received recognition for her contributions to HOSA Happenings, … Read More

During the weekend of March 23-26, the LPA Chorus participated in the WorldStrides OnStage Washington D. C. National Choral Festival. LPA Wins at Fair

Lincoln Park Academy’s 3-dimmensional art classes worked collaboratively to create a red, white, and blue Floridian inspired booth. The students each formed an individual red, white, or blue flower to contribute to a large hanging garden mural. The main focal point of the booth was a large eagle relief that read, “Art can change people and people change the world.” Ms. Duran’s advanced classes produced large “Big Head” sculptures inspired by influential Floridians and characters such as Tim Tebow, Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse, and Donald Duck. LPA Key Club Shows Support

On Saturday, March 18, the LPA Key Club provided assistance to the Main Street Fort Pierce program by sponsoring and promoting the Coloring Wall during the Taste of the Sea and Sandy Shoes Seafood Festival in downtown Fort Pierce. Designed as a means to recruit festival participants in an entertaining and creative activity, the Coloring Wall was very successful. Throughout the day, several Key Club members were able to entice young and old alike to express themselves with crayons, paints, chalk and markers. LPA Advances in Global Video Competition

The Lincoln Park Academy Adobe CAPE Academy team made it into the final round of judging for another global digital video competition! Kid Witness News (KWN) is a global video education program supported by Panasonic, with the aim of boosting creativity and communication skills and fostering teamwork through video production by children at the elementary and secondary school levels. LPA Sends Two Teams to Odyssey of the Mind State Finals

Congratulations to the LPA Odyssey of the Mind teams! On February 26, two teams competed in the Regional Tournament at Suncoast High School in Riviera Beach and both teams are headed to the Florida State Tournament on the campus of the University of Central Florida on April 8. Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from K to 12th grades. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. LPA MS Students Preparing for the Next Step

On Friday, February 3, 2017, 26 select 8th grade students from Lincoln Park Academy toured several programs at Indian River State College during Middle School Great Explorations.  These students spent the day gaining valuable hands-on experience in the robotics, photonics, medical services, and computer animation/digital media fields.  The purpose of the trip centered on the connection between secondary education and the world of work, cementing the learning which took place during the 8th grade Naviance activities completed throughout the school year.  Feedback from the students was very encouraging and we can’t wait for next year’s trip!      

LPA Wins Top Individual Honors at MathCounts Competition

The Lincoln Park Academy Middle School Math Team participated in the annual MathCounts competition on Friday. Kendrick Carpenter took first place individual honors and will go on to compete at the state level on March 24th. Also among the top ten finishers was Malaica Ashley who finished in eighth place. Congratulations to the entire team for a job well done!

On Tuesday January 31st, Lincoln Park Academy’s Caleb Pottorff was notified that he had be named “Gatorade Player of the Year for Cross Country.”   Caleb also won the “Mr. Cross Country” award from the Florida Dairy Farmers. Congratulations to Caleb on his recent awards.

LPA Chorale Performs at Disney Candlelight Processional for the 10th Consecutive Year

On Friday, December 9th, the Lincoln Park Academy Concert Chorale participated in Disney’s Candlelight Processional which was held at Epcot Center. The Candlelight Processional tells the story of Christmas in words and music including a mass choir joined by a 50-piece live orchestra and a guest celebrity narrator. The guest celebrity narrator for this evening was Anthony Mackie who played the Marvel Superhero Falcon in the movie Captain America: Civil War. This is the Lincoln Park Academy Concert Chorale’s 10th consecutive year being selected to participate in this very prestigious event.      

LPA Key Club Enjoys the Fort Pierce Parade

The Lincoln Park Academy Key Club participated for the first time in the City of Fort Pierce “A Cattleman’s Christmas Parade.” The Sunrise Kiwanis Club sponsored and provided a small trailer along with a 1949 vintage tractor.  The members worked very hard to build a float. Forty-two students walked behind the float and represented the newly reinstated club and our Greyhound pride.          

LPA Middle School Students Are Committed to Achieve

On Tuesday November 22, 2016, Lincoln Park Academy Middle School students participated in the annual Pathway to Success ceremony.  Whether it’s the youngest Greyhounds in the class of 2024 or the voting-age seniors who graduate in May, all students deserve to know they inspire adults around them.  The students received a keepsake to commemorate the ceremony and signed a graduate silhouette ensuring their commitment to be successful at LPA which is displayed proudly on campus.  Great job, Greyhounds…and keep up the hard work!

On Saturday November 5th, Caleb Pottorff won the 2A Cross Country State Meet.  Caleb ran the fastest 5K of the 728 male and female runners who participated.  Congratulations to Caleb! Your Lincoln Park Academy family is very proud of you.

LPA Food Drive

Lincoln Park Academy’s Middle School Student Council is grateful to be assisting the effort to eliminate hunger within the community.  With the tremendous outpouring of effort from students and staff, LPA was able to donate    2 1/2 wagons of non-perishable food items to the Mustard Seed Ministry.        

Lady Greyhounds Capture District Volleyball Title

On October 20th in the Lincoln Park Academy gymnasium, the Lady Greyhounds captured another volleyball district title against Clewiston High School.  This is the forth consecutive district title for for LPA.  Congratulations to the players and coaches!!
