Our first-grade students recently took part in an exciting MTSS enrichment experience that combined creativity, collaboration, and literacy development. During this enrichment time, students participated in a hands-on slime-making project that encouraged them to carefully follow directions, practice sequencing, and work cooperatively with their peers. In addition, students enjoyed participating in Reader’s Theater, which provided meaningful opportunities to build reading fluency, expression, and comprehension. As they practiced their roles, students gained confidence in their reading abilities while developing stronger communication and teamwork skills. The Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion’s Drill Team competed at the Santaluces High School Drill Competition against six other schools on January 9th. The competition consisted of Armed Squad, Unarmed Squad, Male Individual Exhibition, Female Individual Exhibition, LET one squad, Male/Mixed dual exhibition, and Color Guard.  The Jaguars did incredibly well in their first competition of the season. Palm Pointe’s 8th-grade Classrooms2Careers family night was a huge success! Seniors and their families learned about high school requirements and program offerings. They received practical advice from some of our very own Palm Pointe alumni and connected with local business partners, companies, and colleges who shared programs, pathways, and real‑world advice on career opportunities. Morningside Elementary School proudly kicked off Kindness Week today with a schoolwide celebration focused on compassion and community. Every student took part by signing our large Kindness Quilt, symbolizing our shared commitment to treating one another with respect and empathy. Students wrote messages of kindness on paper chain links. We also launched our collection drive for Grace Packs, gathering Granola and Nutri‑Grain bars to support children in need throughout our community. SLW Centennial High School kicked off the year with celebrations for Eagles who proved that progress matters. 9th and 10th graders who demonstrated growth or proficiency on their ELA FAST PM2 enjoyed a well-deserved moment at the Eagle Culture Snack Tent—because every step forward deserves recognition. Bootcamp & Basketball at Centennial! On Friday, January 9th, SLW Centennial High School hosted an exciting afternoon that combined academic focus and school spirit. Students in Algebra 1, Geometry, and ELA (9th & 10th grade)  kicked off with Bootcamp in the cafeteria right after dismissal at 4 PM. Then, they were rewarded with tickets to the big game against Treasure Coast High School from 4–8 PM. Our School Counseling Team at Bayshore Elementary partnered with Children Services Council of St. Lucie County and Ms. Loudy Mortimer our of our District’s Bilingual Parent Education Program earlier this year to provide a literacy pack for some of our students here at Bayshore. In November, members of the School Counseling Team coordinated for the National Theater for Children to stop by Bayshore to do a performance for our K-2 students. During this performance, students learned about energy conservation, how we measure energy used, how energy is wasted, and what renewable energy is. During the show, students learned important lessons about energy efficiency, and teachers were provided lessons and activities to prolong the engagement for well after the end of the performance. On January 7th, members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) visited Oak Hammock K‑8 for a memorable and inspiring presentation centered on the creation and purpose of the Braille American Flag. This special flag, crafted with raised elements and Braille text, was thoughtfully designed so that individuals who are blind or visually impaired can fully experience the meaning, symbolism, and pride of the American flag through touch. Students investigated job requirements such as education and prerequisite experience required, skill sets, potential colleges, and/or training programs. Bayshore’s School Counseling Team held their Holiday Craft with the Counselors event. Students got to decorate an Ice Cream Cone Tree, color Charlie Brown coloring pages, decorate a Christmas ornament to take home, have a pizza dinner, & a holiday picture!
