Science was bright and loud in 5th-grade at Bayshore Elementary as students explored the fascinating world of light and sound energy. Using flashlights, prisms, and both light and dark cloths, students investigated how light travels in straight lines and how it can be reflected, refracted, or absorbed. They observed firsthand how light behaves differently depending on the materials it encounters, which sparked thoughtful discussions and plenty of curiosity. Fort Pierce Central’s SGA students recently demonstrated outstanding leadership by organizing and conducting a student focus group aimed at strengthening our school community. Representing all grade levels, the focus group participants engaged in thoughtful, open dialogue about areas identified for improvement in a student survey administered earlier this year. On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC took a field trip to the Cape Canaveral Coast Guard Station to visit their Command and Control Center and tour the United States Coast Guard Cutter “SKIPJACK”. The cadets were able to ask questions about the Coast Guard Station’s operations, area of responsibility, and career opportunities.  They were able to walk through working areas of the Cutter as well as don some of the equipment used to during rescue operations. On February 27, 2026, the Jaguar Battalion conducted its annual flag retirement ceremony, a cornerstone tradition dedicated to the dignified disposal of unserviceable American flags. The process began with a coordinated collection effort from January 14th  to January 28th, during which designated Cadets and their respective Company Commanders gathered flags from predetermined neighborhoods located near Port St. Lucie High School. Following congressional recommendations for respectful decommissioning, the collected flags were carefully separated into their original colors—red, white, and blue—before being committed to the fire. A Day of Discovery and New Beginnings at Morningside Mrs. Eibl’s 2nd graders brought their Life Cycles study to life as they watched tiny chicks hatch right in their classroom. Through hands-on embryology, students carefully observed each stage of development, recorded their findings in journals, and asked thoughtful questions that showed growing understanding. They were excited to see science unfold before their eyes and make real-world connections. Once the chicks arrived, the class proudly chose names for their new feathered friends. Southport Middle School recently enjoyed a wonderful evening of community partnership during Tip‑A‑Teacher Night at Texas Roadhouse. Students, families, staff members, and local patrons came together to support SPMS, creating an atmosphere filled with school pride and generosity.
