On Saturday, November 8th, Lincoln Park Academy’s Junior Honor Society joined forces to clean up Jetty Park as part of the “Keep Fort Pierce Beautiful” initiative. The City of Fort Pierce Public Works team led an engaging lesson on the dangers of litter and its harmful effects on local wildlife. They generously provided buckets, grabbers, water, and ice to support the effort. In Mrs. Ferrante’s 4th-grade classes, students eagerly tackled a fun division challenge to identify the Most Wanted Remainders. They worked in pairs, solving problems and sharing strategies, turning their review into an exciting quest. Third graders in Ms. Hernandez’s classes had a spook-tacular time during our Interactive Whiteboard Spooky Scoot. Students worked in teams to complete 10 task cards that challenged their understanding of place value using vertical whiteboards and collaborative problem-solving. The first annual St. Lucie West K-8 Media Center Pumpkin Book Character Decorating Contest was a fantastic success, engaging 140 elementary students in a creative and festive activity. Recently, our Oak Hammock K-8 first graders participated in an exciting, hands-on voting activity that brought social studies and math benchmarks to life. The lesson centered on citizenship, helping young learners grasp the importance of making choices and having a voice in their community. Students in Mrs. Barthell’s second-grade class had a blast practicing context clues today! Each group was given a word and its definition. They worked together to create sentences that included clues to help figure out each word’s meaning (spelling mistakes and all — it’s about the learning process!). The session focused on reinforcing essential concepts such as compound inequalities, literal equations, and linear functions. On November 6th, Fort Pierce Central High School’s AICE Digital Media & Design class went on an exploratory field trip to Superblue Miami, an interactive art gallery. This immersive experience allowed the students to step inside living artworks moving through memorable and thought-provoking encounters. The exhibits ranged from “Massless Clouds,” an ethereal and ever-changing room of white foam, to “forest of us” a maze enclosure covered in all directions by endless mirrors.
