Boom, Snap, Clap at St. Lucie West K8

Fifth-grade students in Mrs. Portee’s class played a game of Boom, Snap, Clap to sharpen their mathematical skills. Partners sat across from one another with a set of cards in between them. The teacher boomed, snapped, clapped and gave a rule for what to do with a decimal! Students quickly raced their partner to match the card in their set to the operation the teacher was referring to. They had a blast! \

Lawnwood’s Parent Night

All grade 3-5 parents were invited to attend a Parent Night.  Administration, Instructional Coaches, School Counselors, and Teachers facilitated the event.  Parents were provided a copy of their child’s Progress Monitoring ELA and Math Score Report and they learned how they can help their student master grade-level content skills.  A video was shown to help parents understand computer adaptive testing and parents were provided time to ask questions and discuss concerns.  A special thank you goes out to all Lawnwood Parents for attending this informative session and for all that they do to support our school.  GO LEOPARDS!  

FPC Appreciates Teachers

A week’s long Superhero marathon in Cobra Nation set new standards for celebrating instructional staff! This year’s super teacher appreciation was one filled with food, treats, Cobra swag, and sentimental notes from students. Hosted by the Student Government Association (SGA), the first-ever Crystal Apply awards will take place on Wednesday, May 15th, when honored teachers are nominated by their students. St. Lucie West K8 Escapes from Planet Emoji

Third-grade students in Ms. Balfe’s and Mrs. Schettini’s classes were trapped on Planet Emoji! They had to work together in teams to solve reading challenges to escape. Students read poems, used context clues, and identified character traits, the central idea, and text structures. It was a stellar way to prepare for their upcoming FAST assessment!     

Science Bowl at Village Green

It was a scientific event to remember at Village Green Environmental School as 5th-grade students participated in the annual Science Bowl. This is a true testament that these 5th graders are part of Village Green’s rising scholars, as they originally ended in a three-way tie between Mrs. Corley, Mrs. Smith, and Dr. Venzen’s Homeroom students. In the end, victory was achieved by Dr. Venzen’s “Patriotic Pioneers.” Congratulations to all of our scientific world changers! We are so proud of you!

Cobra Seniors Enjoy Yearbook Signing

FPC’s Yearbook staff brainstormed ways to create importance and excitement around yearbook distribution. The staff decided to host a new event transforming a nostalgic tradition: yearbook signing.    Seniors got the first look at the 2024 Yearbook at this senior exclusive event to kick off yearbook distribution. Seniors were invited to the event to pick up their yearbook and have an opportunity to have their friends sign their books.  Along with enjoying the yearbook among their peers, seniors played board games, Kona Ice and chalk drawing. SLWCHS Attendance Pop Up Incentives

Centennial recognizes our parents and students for ensuring they get to school on time!  On random Fridays, administration and staff greet our parents in the drop-off line, or students in the parking lot to welcome them to school and thank them for getting here on time!  A smile and a snack go a long way to say, “We are glad you’re here!”

VGESS 5th Grade Performance

We would like to congratulate the Village Green 5th graders for putting on an amazing performance last week! Culinary Arts Cooks at Derby Day

Culinary Arts students from Northport K8, Port St. Lucie High School, and St. Lucie West Centennial High cooked up a storm at the Derby Day celebration at Monarch Country Club. Fairlawn’s Readers Celebrate

Fairlawn Elementary held an over-the-top ice cream party to celebrate the students who participated in the Sunshine State Reading Challenge.  Students who read more than 5 Sunshine State readers throughout the school year were treated to every imaginable topping to culminate all their hard work.  We had many students who read every Sunshine State book as well.  Way to go readers!

Northport Students Take Home the Gold

Career and Technical Education (CTE) students from middle and high schools across St. Lucie Public Schools recently participated in the CTE Student Showcase. Seventh graders Terriana Monfleury and Samira Moss from Mr. Fess’ Northstars STEM class took home 1st place in the Middle School 3D Printing and Welding division. They 3D designed, printed, and presented the “Handrill”, a combination of a hammer and a drill. Congratulations ladies!

Lawnwood Plants Seeds for PBIS

Lawnwood students planted seeds for their April PBIS event. Students enjoyed learning about gardening and growing plants while completing this activity. Go Leopards!

Collaborative Creations Through CTE at St. Lucie West K8

Through a collaborative CTE training with local high schools, measuring was a skill identified to focus on to prepare middle school students for high school CTE courses. Ms. Boham’s class learned about rulers, markings, fractions, and how to use tools safely to cut and sand wood. Students measured and used a drill press to make holes needed to complete a Mother’s Day napkin holder. Students were eager to put their skills to the test to complete their creations!

SLWCHS ESE Students Work at PSL City Hall

These are our Eagles soaring high at Port Saint Lucie City Hall. These students sell coffee, pastries, bagels, and fruit to those in our community, every other Thursday from 8:30-10:30. These shining stars are taught job skills in order to thrive in and support our community. Great job Student Perk workers!

St. Lucie West K8 Sharks Spin the Wheel

Students in Ms. Paries’ class were pumped to play Zoink and spin the wheel! They worked in teams to read passages and answer questions. Along with other skills, they focused on identifying the author’s claim and finding the evidence that supports it!

Morningside Takes on City Hall

Last week, Morningside’s Student Council visited the Port St. Lucie City Hall. They learned about several important jobs that keep our city safe and beautiful. They were excited to have conversations with people from traffic operations, trash pick-up and recycling, and District 1 Councilwoman Stephanie Morgan. They even saw a K9 demonstration from PSL Officers Gibbins and Miller. #FutureLeadersofPSL
