Weatherbee Mariners Learn About Hispanic Heritage

Weatherbee Mariners in Mrs. Edwards’ 2nd grade chose a Spanish-speaking country to research for Hispanic Heritage Month. Students were responsible for researching their country, drawing the flag, and writing one interesting fact that they learned through their research. Students then shared their findings with an oral presentation to their peers. Students did an amazing job throughout the whole process and learned so much from each other! 

Lawnwood Leopards are Learning About Growth Mindset

Lawnwood Leopards are learning about growth mindset.  K-5 students attended the NED Show which focuses on character education.  The NED acronym stands for Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best.  Here at Lawnwood Elementary School we will use the NED approach as we continue to promote a culture of kindness and excellence throughout our campus.  GO LEOPARDS!  

Algebra Tile Fun at LPA

Mrs. Porter’s Accelerated 7th Grade Math students at Lincoln Park Academy enjoyed using algebra tiles during an introductory lesson for solving equations. Students modeled equations and wrote equations for models. Then students used the tiles to solve one-variable equations. The students look forward to deepening their understanding of equations using the algebra tiles.

VGESS Studies Space

In celebration of a successful unit of study on Space, 5th-grade students at Village Green eagerly wanted to do a roundup of activities centering on the unit’s learning.  Students chose activities on creating an image of the sun (the Star of the Solar System), comets, and the phases of the moon, as some of their cherished learning experiences.

TCHS ROTC Cadets Visit the Navy SEAL Museum

Treasure Coast High School ROTC cadets visited the Navy SEAL Museum, where they had the opportunity to explore the history and mission of the United States Navy SEALs. Through various interactive exhibits, cadets learned about the sacrifices and successes of our dedicated servicemen.  Titan Born, Titan Bred.

FPC Key Club Book Drive

The Fort Pierce Central High School Key Club participated in the Children’s Services Council’s Book Drive. Key Club members collected over 100 books for young readers. The free books are to encourage reading over screen time in locations such as the DMV or Utilities Company where children could be waiting with their families. Key Club members earned an hour of volunteer time for donating a bag of books to the Children’s Service Council. Every child a reader in SLC! Way to go Cobras!

Cobra Nation’s college-bound students had the exciting opportunity to explore post-secondary options on our very own campus! Representatives from UF and PBAU visited our auditorium to share insights on the admissions processes, academic programs, and campus life. FPC’s JROTC Claims Victory

Fort Pierce Central High School’s JROTC team emerged victorious at the annual “Do You Give a Ruck” Raiders Freedom Festival Cadet Competition in Port St. Lucie! Cobra Nation is thrilled to announce that our cadets earned first place in this challenging event, testing endurance, strength, and teamwork. Participants tackled a demanding course, including a 3-mile run/walk followed by a series of physical challenges: pull-ups, push-ups, and sit-ups. Congratulations and Go Cobras!  

MSE 5th Graders Tackle Earth and Space Concepts with a Friendly Competition

At Morningside Elementary, in preparation for their Earth and Space Unit Assessment, students in Mrs. M’s and Ms. WJ’s 5th-grade classes scrimmaged in Quizlet Live! Students were randomly assigned to teams. Each member of the team received the same question but different answer choices on each of their devices, requiring teammates to collaborate with each other to determine the correct answer! In preparation for this scrimmage, students worked diligently to complete learning tasks and study materials, allowing time for some friendly competition!  

Oak Hammock K8 Students Create Artwork for Hispanic Heritage Month

Mrs. Peterson’s first-grade class learned all about Hispanic Heritage Month. In honor of Hispanic Heritage, their class created Repujado en Aluminio. Repujado is a Spanish language term for embossed aluminum. This is a metal embossing technique dating back to the 12th century. It’s also a very popular and beloved craft in Mexico. Students pressed down and embossed Aluminum foil, then used Sharpies to make their masterpieces colorful.

A good breakfast solidifies not only a start to a good day, but continuing a great senior year! Our future graduates were treated to a special Senior Breakfast at Golden Corral. This annual tradition serves as a time-honored celebration of academic achievements and a reflection on the journey through high school. Saturday morning, our dedicated high school team made a difference! 4 staff members conducted 12 home visits over 5 hours, reaching out to students and families to support regular school attendance. Every visit is a step towards better engagement and student success.

Lawnwood Elementary Students Enjoyed the Talk Like a Pirate PBiS/STEM Event

Lawnwood students enjoyed the Talk Like a Pirate PBiS/STEM Event.  Students participated in a sink or float activity to test the density of different objects by putting them in water. This was a great way to learn about weight and buoyancy.  The students made their predictions and used a graphic organizer to record the results.  Go LEOPARDS!

TCHS Hosts a Successful Multicultural Parent Night

Treasure Coast High School hosted a successful evening jam-packed with community resources and information catered to the parents of our ESOL students. Families were educated about graduation requirements, mentor and scholarship opportunities offered through Take Stock in Children, and more!
