The 2018 Giving Concert served a two-fold purpose. Middle and high school choral groups from across the District provided the gift of music for audience members while audience members, in turn, donated food items to GracePacks for the organization’s weekend food program. Planning to build a better future! 8th grade Northstars students visited the Robotics and Photonics labs at IRSC on February 15, 2019 for some hands-on learning. Students explored the roles that lasers and robotics play in our lives as well as some possible career choices in those fields.
The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) was started in 2002 as a pilot program through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in four states with the purpose of introducing school children to fresh fruits and vegetables. The FFVP was made a permanent grant program nationwide in 2008 and is funded through the Farm Bill. Palm Pointe 8th grade students participated in May the Math Force Be With You – a special event reviewing Math in preparation for next week’s state exams! Students worked hard cooperatively and independently on review questions covering their math standards. The Jaguar Battalion was cordially invited to The Daughters of the American Revolution’s annual meeting at the PGA Golf Club to present the colors. The color guard was led by Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jamie Triplett carrying the national flag. Cadet First Sergeant Morgan Emerson carried the state flag while Cadet Major Savannah Cymbal and Cadet Major Kaylee Zuidema stood as their guards. LUCIE COUNTY – Business and civic leaders will join St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) officials on Wednesday, October 5th at the Treasure Coast International Airport to celebrate the official take-off of the District’s early literacy initiative – St. Lucie Soars. Performance Based Preparatory Academy is one of the schools fighting to break the stigma between finance and food. In two months, Performance Based became eligible to be the site of a School and Teen Pantry. PBPA had to work with the Treasure Coast Food Bank to satisfy their application and site requirements. Once everything was completed, PBPA was officially approved to operate on November 15th. A new partnership has been formed between Lincoln Park Academy and The Concetta Viggiano Parry Foundation, a non-profit organization located in Fort Pierce, focused on philanthropy, volunteerism, and grant-making. This foundation has graciously offered to donate $10,000 toward establishing Lincoln Park Academy’s first-ever wrestling team! The donation will help purchase the team’s initial uniforms and equipment for the students.
