The Jaguar Battalion Present the Colors for Senior Night

On Friday, October 21st the JROTC Jaguar Battalion presented the colors for Senior Night at the football game against Southfork High School. Commanding the color guard was National Flag Bearer Cadet Major Mery Fuentes, along with Cadet Sergeant First Class Eathan Clayton as the State Flag Bearer, Cadet Sergeant Jason Arocho as the Right Guard, and Cadet Captain Mikayla Von Stein as the Left Guard. Our school won the game with a score of 14 to 0. The JROTC cadets had a tremendous time helping park cars for visitors, families, and referees, and can’t wait until our next honor guard.

The Jaguar Battalion Holds Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony

On March 11th and 12th,  the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion conducted their annual Flag Retirement Ceremony where Cadets retired worn and torn unserviceable flags. Cadets properly retired the unserviceable flags in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code. Each Cadet received a chance to retire a color of the flag. The first squad retired the red stripes which symbolize hardness and courage. The second squad retired the white stripe which signifies purity and innocence. The third squad retired the blue field which is indicative of vigilance, perseverance, and justice. The Jaguar Battalion Excels at States

On Saturday, April 15th, the Port Saint Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion competed in the Florida State Drill meet at George Jenkins High School after placing 1st in the Area 3 Drill Meet in Jupiter. Our Female and Male teams competed against 120+ of the best JROTC programs in the state of Florida. We competed in Unarmed/Armed Squad, Unarmed/Armed Platoon, Solo, Dual, Squad, and Platoon Exhibition Drill. The competition went fantastic as the Port Saint Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion managed to achieve multiple top 10 finishes and finish the JROTC drill season on a positive note.

The Jaguar Battalion Continues to Save Lives

On Thursday, November 14th, 2024, the Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion conducted our first Blood Drive of the year. A total of 35 students, teachers, and staff contributed to help save 150+ lives to support the One Blood cause. The cadets that were chosen to help One Blood were assigned different roles, such as the two cadets checking in the students to make sure they were eligible to donate, the “runners” to go out and get the students from class, and lastly, the recovery room to watch and assist whoever donated. The Jaguar Battalion Cleaning Their Neighborhood

On Saturday, April 5th, 2025, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion conducted their yearly Service-Learning project with the help of “Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful”. This year’s project was held at their school, Port St. Lucie High School. Cadets all met at the flagpole by their school, and they were separated depending on their companies. Each company was assigned to a different location around the school and 4 surrounding neighborhoods. The cadets cleaned the roads and sidewalks with grapplers, gloves, and trash bags provided by Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful. The Jaguar Battalion Adventure in Publix Fundraising

On September 13, 2025, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion proudly participated in a community fundraiser hosted at Publix. The Jaguar Battalion 1st Raider Meet

The Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion hosted the First Raider Meet of the season on October 5th, 2024. The cadets who volunteered to help run the raider meet had an essential role in making sure the raider meet went smoothly.  The raider competition consisted of 5 events: a 3-mile team run, 1-mile litter carry, 35-pound kettlebell carry, fitness challenge. Overall, the Battalion’s Male and Female team finished 1st overall and the Mixed team finished 1st in fitness challenge. All three teams will compete in the South Fork Raider Meet on October 12th with expectations to keep our winning streak going. 

The Honor is Ours!

The St. Lucie County Reading Council was presented with the Honor Council Award on June 2nd, 2018 at the University of Central Florida’s Reading Center. On Friday, October 14th, the host and creator of Jostens’ “The Harbor TV” Mike Smith made a stop at Lincoln Park Academy as part of his nationwide tour, visiting schools that embrace the Jostens’ Renaissance educational model. During Week 3 of Holiday Spirit Month at SLWK8, the Grinch surprised our classrooms in the best way possible! Instead of stealing holiday spirit, he brought it—along with laughter and joy. Wayne Gent, the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) announced that a review of school grade data and supporting documentation for Oak Hammock K-8 School resulted in a grade recalculation.  The school, previously designated as a B, now bears the distinction of an A rated school.  In addition, Performance Based Preparatory Academy received a School Improvement Rating of Commendable – the highest benchmark ranking for schools not receiving a letter grade.
