Nursing Assistant Students Experience Simulated Hospital

Students from St. Lucie West Centennial High School (Mrs. Ciufo and Mrs. DeJesus’ classes) and Fort Pierce Westwood Academy (Mr. Burchell’s classes) recently attended a special event at Indian River State College’s School of Nursing. Fifty students, who have either earned or are working towards their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) industry certification, were invited to participate in a simulated learning day alongside college nursing program professors. On a recent visit to Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and Florida International University (FIU), basketball players from SLW Centennial had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Division 1 (D1) basketball. The trip began with a tour of FAU’s athletic facilities, followed by an observation of their spring practice. Then, the athletes traveled to FIU to watch the FAU vs. FIU spring game. Village Green’s 1st and 5th-grade students showcased their science and social studies projects at the St. Lucie Public Schools Elementary Science Showcase that was held on Saturday, April 12, 2025. This educational opportunity allowed students to show off their hard work- scientific investigations, social studies projects, science displays- demonstrating their dedication to learning by engaging in efficient and effective learning experiences. The Office of Teaching and Learning’s Secondary Programs took another amazing group of students from the class of 2026 to tour Florida Atlantic University on March 27th. Village Green Environmental Studies School’s PBIS team held their annual Color Fun Run this past Saturday, April 12th. Bayshore recently hosted student-led conferences with strong support from the community and the SLPS district office. Students had the opportunity to discuss their unit assessment data, PM data, and goals for PM 3 data with their parents, teachers, or staff. They also shared things they could work on at home, their aspirations, and their future career interests. Ms. Piekara’s third-grade class has been enthusiastically working on telling time and understanding elapsed time this week. On Saturday, April 5th, 2025, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion conducted their yearly Service-Learning project with the help of “Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful”. This year’s project was held at their school, Port St. Lucie High School. Cadets all met at the flagpole by their school, and they were separated depending on their companies. SLWK8 third grade students investigate their very own community of St. Lucie County! Students from Mrs. D’Andrea’s Gifted Class had a chance to deep dive into the history of our community. Students picked a historical place in St. Lucie County to research ranging from the stunning Sunrise Theatre to the Roosvelt Bridge. Students then displayed information in a shoebox model.
