On Wednesday, October 28, the Van Duzer Foundation hosted a fund raiser for Rivers Edge Principal, Kerri Walukiewicz, at the Big Apple Pizza near IRSC. Feeling like a family reunion, people from all over the county attended, ate dinner, donated blood, tested to be a donor and participated in the multiple raffles. Multiple generous businesses and a packed house brought in lots of love and over $14,000! Fun with Zero at Frances K Sweet

Students in Melanie Francisco’s class enjoyed roll playing Zero the Hero while learning about the value of the number zero. Sara Jones, Evan Shaw, Drayden McLaughlin, Addison Burgess, and Jeremiah Hill loved soaring throughout the classroom with their classmates to number songs and finger plays, wearing their super hero masks.

Fun-run, Fund-raising, Fitness and Fundamental Life Skills Combine at MSE

Students in Grades K-5 ran laps to raise funds for Morningside PTO.  Throughout the previous week Boosterthon personnel (funrun.com) and the PTO conducted a pep rally, sent out information, and presented fitness, leadership and character lessons as the students participated.  Sponsors and parents pledged per lap or a set amount to help the students,  and each students goal was to walk, dance, hop, or run 35 mini laps.

Fun Run Event at Palm Pointe a Huge Success

Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition recently held a school wide “Fun Run” for Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (P.B.I.S.) as a fundraiser. Each grade level had a special day where they went outside for activities such as walking, dancing, team sports, hula hooping, jump roping, etc. Students were able to bring their own I-pods to listen to as they were getting exercise at the different stations set up for them. Fun in the Media Center at F. K. Sweet

The kindergarten classes at Frances K. Sweet listened to the story, “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” in the media center with Mrs. Laura Glennon.  After retelling the story to their friends, they created an edible craft of Pigeon driving the bus.  They students really enjoyed this delicious treat!  Pictured: Eden Wagerer ready to eat her bus.

Full Sail University Inspires FPC Seniors

On September 8th and 9th, Mrs. Foreman’s senior classes welcomed representatives from Full Sail University for an exciting and interactive presentation. The visiting team introduced students to the wide range of academic programs and career pathways available at Full Sail, a university known for its focus on media, arts, technology, and entertainment industries. Fulbright Award

The U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced that Gretchan Davenport of St. Lucie West K-8 School has been offered a Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms grant. She is one of approximately 76 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad through the program in 2018-2019. Ms. Davenport was selected by the program’s leaders on the basis of academic and professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential. As a part of our school’s PBIS or Positive Behavior Intervention School initiatives, teachers gave out tickets to students exhibiting positive choices and behaviors on campus. Ft. Pierce Westwood Kicks off the 2014-2015 School Year with a Celebration of Hope

Ft. Pierce Westwood kicked off the 2014-2015 school year with a celebration of hope. The Tunnel of Hope is a yearly tradition at Westwood. As students came into the school the very first day of classes, staff was assembled in formation, waving banners, singing the “Happy” song and clapping. Mr. Rivera, a reading teacher at Ft. Members of the Fort Pierce Westwood High School Panther Battalion took a day from work, school and friends to show their interest and commitment in their community by cleaning up Pepper Park. The cadets cleaned up Pepper Park in an effort to clean up their community. Ft. Pierce Central fishing club enjoys tournament

The Fort Pierce Central High School Fishing Club held its monthly Bass Club Tournament at Lake Okeechobee recently with 10 student anglers entered on five boats. It was a picture postcard morning that proved to be a great day on the lake for the competitors. Eight of the 10 student anglers weighed in, and the total for the day was 20 bass weighing in at 34 lbs 12 oz! the largest catch by a 5.77 pound fish caught by Will McKee, pictured.
