Lakewood Park Elementary dads participated in Dads Take Your Child to School Day.    Fathers and male caregivers brought their child to school, signed a pledge of involvement, and truly demonstrated the value of their involvement in their child’s education. Student were thrilled to have their dads bring them to school, eat breakfast with them in the cafeteria, and walk them to class.  Thank you to all who participated.

White City Elementary celebrates “Dad Take your Child to School Day” as we welcomed over 100 dads.  Dads ate breakfast with their child, visited classrooms, and followed morning routines.  Then Dads were able to meet in the Media Center to gather information on the White City Elementary sight words expectations, I-Ready, and sign their Dad’s Pledge.

Port Saint Lucie High School’s JROTC Raider Team traveled to Atlantic High School to compete in a Raider Challenge. The competition consisted of back to back events starting with Rope Bridge and a physical fitness test (PT). Mr. Norcia created a motivation plan known as the “The Raceway Contest” which has made its way onto the Reading Plus© Training Site – Creating Motivation Plans.  Mr. Norcia developed this plan last spring during our initial implementation of the Reading Plus© program. Every year Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition hosts a breakfast for the school’s bus drivers.  Drivers and aides that come to our school each day are invited to come and enjoy a fun morning with a delicious hot breakfast. A PowerPoint presentation is also shared with the drivers going over the P.B.I.S. (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support)  expectations for the students. This week is “National Dog Week!” In honor of our children building literacy skills in a fun way and dogs, Star Bright Therapy dogs have been visiting classes and titillating children to read. TCHS Key Club had their first event on Sept. 18.  This was an orientation of the St. Lucie Botanical Gardens.  Students learned about the Gardens, how they are kept, and how to volunteer. The Botanical Gardens hosts a variety of events, but have always welcomed TCHS!

At Mariposa Elementary, Mrs. Linda Auciello’s 1st grade class was working on counting on and writing their numbers through 30. Student Tyler Rubenstein took this request to an ultimate level and counted all the way through the number 120. It took him five white boards to write them, but he was determined to show what he knew and refused to give up!

The 25th annual POW/MIA ceremony was hosted by Chapter 556 of the Vietnam Veterans of America at Veterans Memorial Park.  Cadets from the Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion showed their support and paid their respects to our missing and captured veterans. This ceremony showed our appreciation to the people who defended our country and recognized that we will never forget them. Present at the ceremony was a table set for one. Two TCHS Criminal Justice Interns (Matt Feirra and Noah Durran) did an amazing job helping out at a PSLPD Crime Prevention/Child Safety event at Old Navy in Tradition last weekend. The store manager was very complimentary of the help they provided. Our very own SRD Brown stated that PSLPD Sergeant Dobler and Officer Lushbaugh were very impressed.

(Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) Team. CA Moore Elementary School had its first Family Night in partnership with its 21st Century After-School Program and the Parent Academy of St. Lucie County. Families came out to learn about how to support their students with reading, how to access the Skyward Gradebook App on their phone, and how to utilize parenting strategies with their students. Everyone gathered for dinner and conversation when done. Thank you to everyone who came to support our students.

Lakewood Park Elementary held its first McTeachers Night of the school year.  Families and staff came out to support the school and even had the opportunity to get faces painted and win raffle prizes.  Fun was had by all who participated, and we look forward to the next one!
