Fort Pierce Westwood Veterinary students were at the St. Lucie International Airport on October 5th to support in the arrival of a plane from Puerto Rico carrying animals in need of homes and care. The veterinary students along with their teacher, Whitney Uribe, helped to unload the animals from the plane, unload them from their carriers for examination, as well as support the veterinarian with their examinations. That support included completing paperwork, getting the medication requested by the vet ready, as well as the vaccines as requested by the vet. Fort Pierce Westwood’s Tuesday Leadership Club (TLC) met for their first 2017/18 service project. TLC members stuffed 50 donated backpacks with school supplies for Panther students in need. TLC is a student driven group which develops positive leadership and characteristics to enhance themselves, their school and their community at large. The students involved with this service project are Trey Doilvien, Kenneshia Murriel, Matilde Mendez, Vanessa Vazquez, Kristina Thomas, Alvin Paschal, and Pharah St. Louis. Fort Pierce Westwood’s Veterinary Tech program welcomes CORE Contents Restoration’s partnership and support.  The company’s generous donation of supplies will support various activities within the Veterinary Tech program and will contribute to the fund raising efforts of an anesthesia machine. This purchase will help achieve the goal of opening a surgery center on campus to expand student opportunities for learning and growth. Representative Larry Lee took part in the Fort Pierce Westwood Speakers Bureau presentation this past Wednesday, October 26, 2016. After being introduced by Board Member Dr. Donna Mills, Representative Lee spoke to the crowded auditorium that was full of freshman students. Mr. Norcia created a motivation plan known as the “The Raceway Contest” which has made its way onto the Reading Plus© Training Site – Creating Motivation Plans.  Mr. Norcia developed this plan last spring during our initial implementation of the Reading Plus© program.
