Lawnwood Elementary School Partners with Applebees/Fort Pierce

Lawnwood’s third annual flapjack fundraiser was a BIG HIT! The families of Lawnwood Elementary School were served breakfast by the LWN staff members.  A special thank you goes out to the staff of Applebees/Fort Pierce for being a local business partner. We also appreciate the LWN staff, parents, and students for making this a fun, memorable event.  Go LEOPARDS!  

Lawnwood Elementary School Celebrates Attendance

Students at Lawnwood Elementary School attended a special presentation by the Oxbow Eco-Center for meeting their first attendance incentive. Children learned about several animals and the features that make them unique. One fun fact discussed was that the eye shape of snakes is a key feature that can allow a person to distinguish which are venomous and not. Lawnwood Elementary repeats as first place fair winner

Lawnwood Elementary School second grade student Ethan Stabile is pictured with his project on display in the Kiwanis Building at the St. Lucie County Fair. Ethan’s project was on the county firefighters. Over 30 projects were selected among first through fifth graders to be displayed for Lawnwood Elementary this year, which won first place in the elementary division for the second year.

Lawnwood Elementary Proudly Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Lawnwood Elementary proudly celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with an inspiring showcase that highlighted the richness of Hispanic culture, history, and creativity. Every poem, play, dance, and piece of art was created and performed by students, showcasing their remarkable talent, collaboration, and cultural pride. The event featured powerful poetry readings, singing,  captivating portrayals of influential Hispanic historical figures, beautifully choreographed dances, expressive artwork, and heartfelt songs honoring cherished traditions. Lawnwood Elementary participates in the Young Authors Competition

Samantha Lamora’s first grade writing class students take a break from writing their stories for The St Lucie County Young Author’s Festival to have a picnic and share their narratives with other students. The entire school (grades first through fifth) participated in writing their opinion, informative, and narrative pieces in hopes of becoming a Young Author’s finalist.

Lawnwood Elementary Leopards Participated in the Annual Black History Celebration

Lawnwood Leopards participated in the Annual Black History Celebration All Lawnwood K–5 classes participated in the Annual Black History Showcase, engaging in a meaningful, schoolwide celebration of history and culture. Students worked collaboratively to create a display highlighting an influential African American leader, demonstrating teamwork, creativity, and pride in their work. Through guided research, reading, and discussion, students learned about the individual’s life, accomplishments, and lasting impact on society. Last week, every student from kindergarten through 5th grade proudly participated in our Student Council elections. It was more than just casting a vote—it was an incredible opportunity for our young leaders to learn about civic responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of making their voices count. Mrs. Miranda Spells’ first and second‑grade students are completing projects throughout the school year that align with their Benchmark reading units. This extension of their learning allows them to apply their creativity and strengthen their problem‑solving skills. GO LEOPARDS! Lawnwood Leopards are Exploring Nature Ms. Frazier’s VPK students enjoyed an engaging and hands-on nature walk as they explored the school grounds with their collection bags in hand. The students eagerly searched for a variety of natural items, including leaves, sticks, rocks, grass, and pine cones, carefully observing their surroundings as they worked. Throughout the activity, the students demonstrated curiosity and excitement as they discovered new items and compared their findings with classmates. Students in Maria Ramkissoon’s kindergarten class at Lawnwood Elementary School proudly share their classroom Science Fair project on gravity, in which they worked together researching. The students incorporated fun with learning by conducting an experiment on gravity that involved dropping blocks tied to parachutes. Lawnwood Elementary Hosts Grades 3-5 Parent Night

All Grades 3-5 Parents were invited to attend a Parent Night.  Administration, Instructional Coaches, School Counselors, and Teachers facilitated the event.  Parents were provided a copy of their child’s Progress Monitoring ELA and Math Score Report and they learned how they can help their student master grade-level content skills.  A video was shown to help parents understand computer adaptive testing and parents were provided time to ask questions and discuss concerns.  A special thank you goes out to all Lawnwood Parents for attending this informative session and for all that they do to support our school.  GO LEOPARDS!

Lawnwood Elementary helps local food bank

The students of Lawnwood Elementary School were busy collecting non-perishable items this month for The Harvest Outreach Center. The students loaded over 40 extra-large boxes for the center to distribute over the holidays. Lawnwood Elementary Enjoys a Night Out at Big Apple Pizza

Students, families, teachers, and staff of Lawnwood Elementary School enjoyed a night of learning at Big Apple Pizza in Fort Pierce. Children were greeted with several book options to choose from. They read and completed a reading comprehension task afterward. When the activity was finished, students were provided pizza and selected a beverage with their families. Children were especially excited to be able to keep the book(s) they selected. We appreciate the love and support shown at this lovely family and community event!
