MSE Collaborates to Build a Hispanic Heritage Quilt!

Students and staff at Morningside Elementary were invited to share something about their family’s Hispanic culture. Each individual was given a square to take home, decorate, and return. The quilt squares represent something they might celebrate together, something they enjoy doing together, something that represents them and their Hispanic heritage. #MSEshinesBRIGHT

MSE Celebrating Veterans Day With A Special Performance

MSE Bowls for Kids’ Sake

Our MSE Blue Jays glowed with joy and pride at this year’s BBBS Bowl for Kids’ Sake event on Saturday, September 24th at Superplay USA!  Fun was had by all at this neon/glow in the dark themed event. Our team raised $636.62 for the cause!

MSE AMP Students Explore Probability with Candy

Mrs. Bolton’s 5th-grade AMP classes compared theoretical and experimental probability using candy. The students first learned how to calculate the theoretical probability of an event and how it can be used to make predictions about the likelihood of the event occurring. Next, they learned how to determine the probability based on actual trials. This activity focused on the relationship between theoretical and experimental probabilities. As unpredictable as the real world is, the more repeated trials performed, the closer the experimental probability tends to get to the theoretical. MSE 5th Graders Tackle Earth and Space Concepts with a Friendly Competition

At Morningside Elementary, in preparation for their Earth and Space Unit Assessment, students in Mrs. M’s and Ms. WJ’s 5th-grade classes scrimmaged in Quizlet Live! Students were randomly assigned to teams. Each member of the team received the same question but different answer choices on each of their devices, requiring teammates to collaborate with each other to determine the correct answer! In preparation for this scrimmage, students worked diligently to complete learning tasks and study materials, allowing time for some friendly competition!  

MSE 5th Graders Host Energy Carnival

The 5th-grade students at Morningside Elementary hosted their first Energy Carnival, showcasing their creativity and knowledge about different forms of energy. They built fun and educational games related to energy concepts, making learning exciting. Students from all grades in the school had the chance to attend the carnival, play the games, and learn about energy in an interactive way. The event was a great success, bringing the school community together for a fun day. MSE 4th Graders Hop into Music on the Glockenspiel

In their music resource class, 4th grade students at MSE eagerly learned to play the song “Rabbits” on the glockenspiel. Students began by reviewing both the instrument and how to read simple musical notes. The students practiced carefully, focusing on hitting the correct notes at the right times. They enjoyed the challenge of coordinating their hands and listening closely to the rhythm. As they practiced, they began to play the lively and fun melody of “Rabbits” more confidently. In 2nd grade at Morningside Elementary, students enthusiastically participated in a collaborative activity that was focused on telling time. Working in groups of four, each team discussed various clocks and determined the correct times together. Once all members reached a consensus, they recorded their answers on individual cards. The room was filled with lively conversation and cooperation, as students encouraged one another and shared strategies. Recently, 2nd graders from Morningside Elementary visited the OXBOW Environmental Center, where they engaged in vital lessons about protecting our natural resources.
