MSE Student Council’s Impactful KINDNESS Week Celebration

The MSE Student Council made a significant impact during KINDNESS Week, helping our school embrace the spirit of compassion. Throughout the week, council members showcased their creativity by decorating vibrant posters that inspired positivity. MSE Spelling Bee Winner Buzzes to the Top

Third, Fourth and Fifth grade students competed in the MSE Spelling Bee on January 12, 2015.  After 14 rounds of words, Aaron Nieves, a third grader buzzes to the top and wins the competition.  Congratulation Aaron!!           

MSE: Rotary Club of PSL Donates Dictionaries

Students in third grade at Morningside Elementary each received a dictionary from the Rotary Club of Port Saint Lucie. Students were excited as they looked through the pages at pictures and new words in their very own dictionary.  Thank you, Rotary, for your wonderful gift!

St. Lucie Public Schools is proud to announce that Morningside Elementary’s (MSE) Odyssey of the Mind Team is advancing to the World Finals competition slated for May 23 – May 26 in Ames, Iowa. Morningside’s team will convene with approximately 850 other teams for what is deemed to be the largest creative problem-solving competition. Morningside Elementary’s (MSE) Odyssey of the Mind Team is advancing to the World Finals competition slated for May 23 – May 26 in Ames, Iowa. MSE Odyssey of the Mind Team is Heading to States!

Morningside Elementary Primary Odyssey of the Mind team built 3 vehicles and created a performance that solved a problem. They made their own set, costumes, and props. On February 12th, they competed in the Regional Competition and were awarded first place and will be heading to States in March! Huge Congratulations to Coach Mrs. LaChance and all our performers- Brody Diaz, Alex LaChance, Jayda Matthews, Benicio Tedesco, Devyn Tran, Pearl Wilks, and Ruby Wilks! We are so proud of you!

Thank you Deputy Lindstadt for helping keep our school SAFE.💛💙☀️ Because of the Referendum money that the SLC voters renewed, and the coordination and collaboration of the SLC Sheriff’s office and SLPS, we are honored to have a SLC deputy on campus all the time watching and protecting our campus. MSE Is Going To Odyssey of the Mind World Finals!!

Morningside Elementary’s Odyssey of the Mind Team is one of the two best creative problem-solving teams in the state of Florida!  This has earned them the right to compete with 25 other countries at the World Finals.  The school is working hard to raise the money for travel, but they need your help!  Please consider donating to the cause.  This can be done in two ways: The Education Foundation is collecting donations. Morningside’s STARS were celebrated Monday, January 4, 2016, with a breakfast, MSE shirt, and certificate. Our School Related Employee of the Year is Candida Castrillo, executive secretary.  The Distinguished Minority Teacher is Stacey McColley, kindergarten teacher, and our Teacher of the Year is Coach Ryan Prue, PE teacher. Congratulations!!  

MSE Honored Veterans

Morningside Elementary School invited veterans from all branches of the armed forces to join students and staff in a tribute to honor their service to our county.  On Thursday, November 9, the school’s hallway was lined with students waving flags, clapping, and cheering as veterans made their way to the school’s cafeteria. MSE Grandparents Celebrated

Morningside Elementary’s grandparents were invited to have lunch with their grandchildren to celebrate Grandparents Day.  Grandparents and family members filled the stage and front of the cafeteria throughout the last three days to celebrate the integral part that family has as part of the team that makes students well-rounded and successful.

MSE Fifth Graders Launch Rockets in Science Unit

Fifth-grade students in Mrs. Williams’ homeroom at Morningside Elementary had an exciting opportunity to learn about force and motion through a hands-on science unit. The students built and launched their very own rockets, experiencing how different forces affect movement. This engaging activity helped students understand scientific concepts in a fun and interactive way. They were able to see firsthand how thrust, gravity, and air resistance work together during the rocket launches. MSE Everglades Ambassadors’ Journey into Nature’s Heart

Morningside Elementary’s Everglades Ambassadors took some time out of their spring break to meet up in the Everglades! Ranger Colby led them on a wet walk through a cypress dome habitat where they got muddy and saw an alligator in its hole. Can you imagine if they had visited in the wet season?!?! After a picnic lunch, Ranger Trent led them through a rock pineland habitat and a hardwood hammock habitat where they learned about why these habitats are in danger.
