No Debate- FPC’s Debate Team Seals the Victory!

Fort Pierce Central High School had a respectable showing at this year’s statewide tournament competing against 64 other schools from across Florida. Congratulations to Makaria Sandlin for taking 2nd place in Original Oratory, Novice Division. This was her very first competition! Honorable mention goes to Amani Mohd for her performance in Congressional Debate. Congratulations to Debate Team sponsor Mrs. Embrey.

No Computer Screens Needed!

Mrs. Thomaselli decided to head to the park where she met up with her 3rd Grade students to develop learning concepts further! When students took the 3rd Grade FSA Practice Test on campus earlier in the month, Mrs. Thomaselli analyzed the practice test results and created fun outdoor review activities to deepen learning on the concepts students struggled with most. Nittiya Boyce’s Winning Artwork Displayed at Manatee Observation Center

Lincoln Park Academy student, Nittiya Boyce, 8th grade, placed third in the “Inlet 100th Anniversary Student Art Contest.” The contest was sponsored by the Fort Pierce Lions Club. They were inspired to hold a contest to celebrate the inlet because children are the future keepers of our environment. Nittiya’s artwork is now on display at the Manatee Observation and Education Center. She won a $50 Visa gift card, ribbon, and certificate for her talent and creativity. Lincoln Park Academy student, Nittiya Boyce, 7th grade, placed third in the “Inlet 100th Anniversary Student Art Contest”. The contest was sponsored by the Fort Pierce Lions Club. Night of the Stars Winners Announced

On Saturday, February 10, education’s shining stars walked the red carpet during the annual St. Lucie County Education Foundation’s Night of the Stars gala.  This annual event was broadcast live from Lincoln Park Academy’s grand auditorium. ST. LUCIE COUNTY — Excitement is in the air as the Annual Night of the Stars gala draws closer. This ticketed event scheduled for Saturday, February 10, at the Lincoln Park Academy Auditorium in Fort Pierce will honor outstanding educational and support staff professionals in St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS). Night of Family Learning at Oak Hammock K-8

Grade 3 through 8 Oak Hammock K-8 families participated in a collaboratively hosted event by Title 1 and the SLPS Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) department. The event focused on Social and Emotional Learning strategies to enhance the well-being at home during the FSA testing season. Participants learned how Oak Hammock is implementing SEL at school and rotated to different stations so students and their families could practice different strategies for use at home. Nicholas Demko has qualified as a Semifinalist in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.  As one of approximately 16,000 high school seniors who are Semifinalists, he has the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. NHS Titans Participate with Beach Cleanup

On Saturday, March 9th, Mr. Curatolo and members of the Treasure Coast High School National Honors Society, in collaboration with 5 other high school chapters of NHS, completed the largest beach cleanup project to date. Over 100 members spent that Saturday morning cleaning the Hutchinson Island beaches, sidewalks, and pathways of any trash and debris they could find. Each chapter covered at least 2-3 miles of beach helping make St. Lucie and the Treasure Coast clean and suitable for the environment. NFL Player Khalil Mack Visits C.A. Moore Students

The students at C.A. Moore Elementary received an unexpected visit from Khalil Mack.  Mr. Mack is a native of Fort Pierce, former C.A. Moore student and graduate of Fort Pierce Westwood High School.  Students had the opportunity to take pictures with Mr. Mack and he graciously provided autographs for students and staff.  Mr. Mack is currently a player with the Oakland Raiders wearing number 52.

On February 26th, the Area 3 Regional State Qualifying Drill Meet was hosted at Port Saint Lucie High School. PSLHS JROTC competed in Male and Female Let 1 squad, Unarmed/Armed squad, Unarmed/Armed Platoon, Color Guard, Solo/Dual Exhibition, Exhibition squad, and Exhibition platoon. The top 2 teams in each event qualify for the state Drill Meet. Port Saint Lucie High School ended up qualifying in Unarmed/Armed squad, Unarmed/Armed platoon, Exhibition squad, Exhibition platoon, and Female color guard. On April 2nd, the cadets will travel to Lakeland, Florida to compete in the Florida State Drill Championships.

News from the Resource Classes at White City Elementary!

In Coach Jones and Coach Smith’s PE classes, students practice their yoga positions and learn new ways to manage stress! They are also learning how to Double Dutch jump with the longer jump ropes! In Mr. Tobin’s Art class, fourth and fifth-grade students work on their Mexican-inspired sun art. Students explored lines, patterns, shapes, and colors. They are excited to share their work with the rest of their classes! In Mr. Deleon’s Media class, fifth-grade students read aloud to their groups about Hispanic individuals who made an impact in our society!
