The Polar Express at Oak Hammock K-8

The 2nd grade students from Ms. Forston, Ms. Blaszkiewicz, and Ms. Aristide’s class at Oak Hammock K-8 are retelling the story of the Polar Express. The students are bringing their excitement and love of reading by comparing the book to the movie. The classes (MySchool and Brick and Mortar) are excited about building their reading comprehension while enjoying their reading and learning together during this holiday season.

Northport Thanks Veteran Partners in Education

What a wonderful morning at Northport! ?? We welcomed retired Army Sgt. Bill Arnold, our Veteran Partner in Education as well as three retired military servicemen from American Legion Post 318. The gentlemen accepted a poppy collage to honor all veterans made by Northport art students. The collage will hang on the wall at Post 318. Thank you so much to the entire post for coming out to Northport. Veterans and our military mean the world to our school. It was with a free breath that we all smiled through the presentation. ❤ ?? Port St. Lucie High School Raider Meet

On Saturday, November 21st, 2020, the Jaguar Battalion hosted a Raider meet at Port Saint Lucie High School. Each school that participated in the raider meet participated as one whole team to represent their school in the following events: Relay Race, Tire Roll, Capture the Guide-on, Kickball, Dodgeball, and Tug of War. The cadets of Port Saint Lucie High School secured a victory in every event against the three other attending schools. Students at MSE Celebrate Second Annual Macy’s Day Parade

Mrs. Moore’s and Mrs. Eibl’s second and third grade classes got together to research and then recreate the Macy’s Day Parade. Students enjoyed writing the script, searching for pictures that represent their favorite parts of the holiday tradition and then starring in and editing their creation.  Video Presentation  

Northport Unveils Beautiful Addition to the Courtyard to Promote Anti Bullying Message!

Northport is pleased to unveil a beautiful buddy bench in the school courtyard. The buddy bench was made from plastic caps collected by the children at the school. The bench was donated by Keep Saint Lucie Beautiful. The project was organized by ASD teacher, Hannah Licameli and her students. The lessons in recycling have been invaluable to the students. Many thanks to our Parents in Education from First United Methodist church for attending the unveiling.

SLWK8 MySchool Students Create Pumpkin Book Characters

  St. Lucie West K-8’s MySchool students in Mrs. Vargas’ Kindergarten class created their favorite book characters using a pumpkin and presented them to their classmates. They had to tell why their characters were their favorite and name at least three details about them. SUPER JAWESOME JOB SHARKS!

Northport Collaborates with City of PSL to Bring Author to TEAMS!

The Northport 4th grade children enjoyed hearing from a real author recently. Fred Koehler shared his Florida personal experiences as well as author experiences. He also had the children do a step by step drawing and gifted the school with copies of his book “Garbage Island.”  The children were highly engaged through Teams and in awe of participating in this program. The City of PSL and Georgette Beck sponsored this program and talked to the children about keeping our city clean and recycling. Nicholas Demko from Lincoln Park Academy Named as Semifinalist for National Merit Scholarship

Nicholas Demko has qualified as a Semifinalist in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.  As one of approximately 16,000 high school seniors who are Semifinalists, he has the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. Jaguar Battalion Veteran’s Day Assembly

On Wednesday, November 11th, the Port Saint Lucie Jaguar Battalion held a short voluntary assembly at Veterans Memorial Park to honor veterans who have served and continue to serve our country. Everyone was gathered at 2:00 pm as our Instructors and Battalion Commander, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Lawrence Moleon-Mathews, briefed us on the history and importance of Veteran’s Day. Honor Guard Helps Village Green Elementary School

On Saturday, November 14th, cadets of the Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion participated in an honor guard to help Village Green Elementary School maintain its garden. The school had planted a garden of many different plants and trees a few years ago, which had overgrown in various places. The cadets worked tirelessly pulling weeds and harvesting vegetables while learning about different plants in the environment.

Fourth Grade Students at Morningside Elementary Celebrate America Recycles Day!

Morningside Elementary fourth grade team in collaboration with Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful taught students about the importance of recycling through a novel study unit. KPSLB donated 100 copies of “Garbage Island” by Fred Koehler. Students read all 39 thrilling chapters packed with action and impressive vocabulary. To reward their hard work, the fourth grade teachers reverse tie-dyed recycling T-shirts. To add to the fun, students and teachers participated in a recycled headwear competition, in which the students were able to creatively represent the perils of not taking care of our earth. SLWK8 First Graders Learn all about Voting

Last week, St. Lucie West K-8 School’s awesome First Grade Team finished up their three-week Voting Unit! Through cross-collaboration, students virtually and in-person were able to learn about and participate in a real-life election for “Best Virtual Teacher” between Miss Merhi and Mrs. Genus. Students participated in campaign videos, a live debate, voter registration, and much more! On their election day, October 30th, each in-person class set up ballot boxes for students to cast their votes and they received “I Voted” stickers as well. Lincoln Park Academy’s Giselle Cisneros Chosen to Participate in Florida Orchestra All State Orchestra

Lincoln Park Academy is pleased to announce that Giselle Arana Cisneros, a 7th-grade orchestra student, has been chosen to participate in the Florida Orchestra Association All State Orchestra on violin. She completed the audition virtually in October. Ms. Laura Hopkins is her orchestra director at LPA, and is very proud of her accomplishments. Giselle has loved music since she young. She started taking violin classes as part of her school Morningside Academy curriculum.
