Lincoln Park Academy won three gold medals at State Championships in the Fall and their Winter teams are seeing similar success. Middle school artists studied the art of Kehinde Wiley for Black History Month.  Kehinde Wiley is most famous for his presidential portrait of Barack Obama. His artwork is known for its unique portraiture style that uses vintage, floral backgrounds paired with an emphasis on the model’s unique style.  Wiley’s paintings are inspired by the old masterpieces by having his models pose like a particular painting of old.  Palm Pointe virtual and traditional artists researched old masterpieces and picked out their favorite to recreate the pose.  Then, keeping with Wiley’s style they found a vintage background and digitally edited their portraiture … Read More

Weatherbee Elementary won 1st place for their school display in the 2021 St. Lucie County Fair contest presented by Sunrise Kiwanis Club. Our vision of the theme “Schools Shining Bright Under Carnival Lights” came to life through school-wide collaboration. Every department and grade group at Weatherbee was creatively represented within our fair booth, because our school shines the brightest through teamwork and the support of each other! Students in Mr. Lewis’ class are learning about the role bees and other living and non-living things have in pollination. Using the resource “Mystery Science” they received a real-world lesson on what pollination is and how it happens. To make the concept stick, they created their own model flowers, complete with pollen dusters, pollen, and a “sticky” stigma. Students then created their own “pollinators” out of pipe cleaners. Grayson DiBernardo is senior at Lincoln Park Academy with a GPA of 3.5 weighted to an awesome 5.1494! Grayson is the son of Jenifer and Pete DiBernardo. Grayson’s subject interests are many and include history, music, and math. Elementary music and dance classes at CAST collaborated together to put on an outstanding practice performance! Dr. Irwin’s third, fourth and fifth-grade music students played instruments while Mrs. Murphy’s 5th-grade dancers moved along to the rhythm. They invited kindergarten, first, and second graders for an outside rehearsal concert. t.

Oak Hammock K-8 MySchool students in 7th & 8th grade are creating wonderful music as members of the Osprey Band. The students have been working hard to create a virtual ensemble performance. Each student records their part of the selection, Ode to Joy and uploads it to Canvas. Ms. Isenhower, the band director, compiles all the recordings into one musical collaborative ensemble. Racing to success! Eighth grade Northstars students in Mr. Fess’ STEM class have been working hard designing, constructing and coding their own racecars! The students built their designs using VEX robotics and coded them using Robot-C. This is one of many robotics projects these students will complete this year.

  CAST teachers and staff, with help from the Leader in Me’s Culture Crew on campus, designated a spot in the main office to recognize all the things they are grateful for. During these uncertain times,  CAST wanted to focus on the good they have in their lives to help move them forward. The board is ever-changing and growing as teachers continue to add what they are thankful for! Modeling gratitude for  students is an example of being a leader and using Habit 1: Be Proactive!

First graders in Ms. Smith’s class designed and constructed their own constellations as a culminating Stop & STEAM event after their unit of learning about the sky, sun, moon and stars. Students enjoyed tasting their starry creations too!  

Fifth grade students celebrated Black History Month by painting in the style of the famous Florida Highwaymen. Select paintings will be displayed at the 6th Annual Highwaymen Heritage Festival in Fort Pierce at a later date. Our students enjoyed learning about local artists and their impact on our city!
