Port St. Lucie High School’s Technical Design Program and Preapprenticeship students hosted 3D Printed Car Races. Students designed, tested, 3D printed, and raced their cars in the gym!  Mr. Picchiarini and his Tech Design students not only entertained but recruited students into the Technical Design classes.  Level Up CTE!

Port St. Lucie High HOSA students advance to state competition

Four Port St. Lucie High School medical academy students in the Health Occupations Students of America organization placed in regional competition and have advanced to state competition to be held April 4-7 in Orlando. Port St. Lucie High history teacher wins state award

The Florida History Fair awarded Port St. Lucie High School history fair school coordinator and 10th-grade world history teacher Valerie Arendas with the Patricia Behring Teacher of the Year Award, Senior Division, for her many years of dedication to National History Day activities at her school. The Patricia Behring Teacher of the Year Award recognizes outstanding National History Day educators. Each state selects a junior and senior-division recipient, who receive a $500 cash prize. Port St. Lucie High grad earns national recognition

Port St. Lucie High School (PSLHS) 2012 graduate Diamond Salazer was recognized at the July 31, 2012, St. Lucie County School Board meeting for her outstanding performance during the national SkillsUSA career and technical education competition this past school year. She was awarded by the Florida Masonry Apprentice and Educational Foundation. Port St. Lucie High Geometry Students Play Capture the Flag to Prepare for Unit Assessment

Mrs. Phillips’ Geometry students are preparing for their Unit 1 Assessment with a Capture the Flag game! Groups started with 5 different colored flags and worked to solve problems within their groups. Students had their answers checked and when correct, they could steal another team’s flag. In the end, students were surprised to find each flag had a different value and those with a lot of blue or orange flags lost points! Fun & learning were had by all!  

Port St. Lucie High Freshmen Open House, JROTC and New Cadets

On Wednesday August 8, 2018, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion aided the incoming freshmen at open house, the school’s first event. The cadets of JROTC helped incoming students with finding their classes and enrolled many new cadets into the program. Fifty new eager cadets were assigned that day. Cadets working this event felt encouraged to reach out to young motivated students who want to better themselves and their community. The DECA Sports and Entertainment Marketing Conference was crucial for DECA, the Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) of the Marketing program at PSLHS, as it provided invaluable exposure to real-world marketing practices and connections with industry leaders. Port St. Lucie High culinary students help in celebration

Port St. Lucie High School culinary arts students Krista Ventola, right, and Kendrick Quintao and their classmates recently celebrated and served lunch to faculty with students and teachers who had the highest attendance on campus. The culinary students prepared spicy Italian chicken, homemade macaroni and cheese, yummy green beans and several other tasty dishes. To top it off, culinary instructor Chef Peter Suneson and culinary students served mouth watering desserts such as warm apple pie, lemon bars, and pumpkin pie.

Port St. Lucie High Culinary Arts Hosts Virtual Field Trip

Port St. Lucie High School Culinary Arts students hosted a virtual field trip for middle school students. Students from Dan McCarty Middle, St. Lucie West K8, Southern Oaks Middle, and Oak Hammock K8 stayed in their classrooms and via Microsoft Teams were able to meet Chef Foerster and his Culinary Arts students. Port St. Lucie High Clubs Unite for Earth Day at the Beach

Students from the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Spanish Honors Society joined forces on Saturday, April 19th, to celebrate Earth Day with a significant cleanup initiative at Stuart Beach. Demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship, the students arrived promptly at 9:00 AM and dedicated two hours to collecting litter and debris along the shoreline. The collaborative effort saw a strong turnout of enthusiastic student volunteers and teachers who worked diligently until 11:00 AM, making a real difference in preserving the natural beauty of the popular local beach. Port St. Lucie High cadets win competition

The Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Air Rifle team wong first place at the American Legion Post 318 Invitational Air Rifle Match. Six four-person teams from three schools, including Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce Central, and Fort Pierce Westwood high schools competed for medals in each of the three positions: prone, standing, and kneeling. Port St. Lucie High’s Michael Hutchison scored the highest in the competition. Port St. Lucie High cadets visit Palm Beach Atlantic University

Cadets from the Port Saint Lucie High School JROTC program visited Palm Beach Atlantic University recently for their ROTC Leadership Day. The cadets participated in a scavenger hunt that helped them learn all about the campus, and leadership activities that were led by PBAU students. A PBAU administrator informed the students about enrollment criteria, grants, scholarships, and what PBAU has to offer them. There was also a panel of Vietnam veterans, ranging from a general to a junior enlisted, who told of their experience in the military followed by a question and answer session. The Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion took cadets for a tour of the Florida Institute of Technology campus recently. Master Sergeant David Beach, the ROTC instructor of the college, greeted the cadets with a tour of their ROTC facility and talked to the cadets about the opportunities ROTC has to offer the cadets. After the orientation, Mike Perry, the director of undergraduate admissions, guided and spoke to the cadets about the opportunities the college offers to the cadets after high school. Port St. Lucie High cadets use survival skills in camp out

The Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Raider Team finished off their season strong by “surviving” their annual Raider campout recently. The Battalion Raider team spent a tough night out at Camp Ah-Ba-Lu-Fa in Fort Pierce. Throughout the overnight campout, the Raiders exhibited their mastery of survival skills, shelters, trap and fire building that they have learned throughout the season. The raiders are grateful for the outstanding survival class taught by Amanda Thompson from the Oxbow Environmental Center. The team enjoyed the campout and learned many useful survival skills. Port St. Lucie High cadets teach elementary students about flag protocol

The Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion Color Guard performed a flag folding ceremony at Mariposa Elementary School recently. The Color Guard Team was led by Cadet Major Mason Propst presenting the U.S. flag with Cadet Byron Cruz presenting the state flag. Guarding the colors were Cadet Amanda Mabry and Cadet William Benagh. They presented and posted the colors, followed by a demonstration on the ceremonial folding of the national flag while explaining the meaning of each of the thirteen folds. Port St. Lucie High cadets remember the missing

The cadets of Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion showed their support and paid their respects to missing and captured veterans at the annual POW/MIA ceremony hosted by the Chapter 556 of the Vietnam Veterans of America recently. The cadets formed an Honor Cordon at the entrance to the ceremony. Cadet Captain Devynn Rhodes, Cadet First Sergeant Arlene Mabry, and Cadet Corporal Ryan Culbreth participated in the ceremony by lighting the candles for the missing men and women from Desert Storm and Afghanistan.
