The CAST Dance Team performed on Dec. 18th, 2021 at Disney Springs. They performed eight dances, including Jazz, Lyrical, and Hip-Hop styles. They were able to enjoy the rest of the day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It was a once-in-a-lifetime performing opportunity and team bonding experience!  

Ms. Abbate’s 4th-grade students wrote a statement about every classmate. This writing activity encouraged students to reflect on positive attributes and help build relationships. Kindness is a gift that everyone can afford to give.

St. Lucie West K-8 students in Ms. Lynch’s 5th-grade math classes became city planners. Each student was assigned to build a city block by fulfilling one of the following buildings: restaurant, municipality, residential, shopping, and entertainment. The students made nets and then determined the volume of each building, decorated, and later confirmed each other’s recorded volume. The creative results were amazing to see. JAWSOME JOB, SHARKS!  

Athletes share a lot of similarities before a big home game -pride, pregame jitters, and excitement are just a few of them. But this year, NPK-8 athletes are sharing more than just their feelings. We are excited to celebrate the success of our CAST Music students! 3rd through 5th-grade music students and 6th-grade percussionists had an outstanding winter performance. Students performed using Orff xylophones, steel drums, Brazilian Samba drums, ukuleles, and more! Congratulations performers!  

  St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) earned a historic graduation rate of 94.5% which exceeds the state average of 90.1%. The six traditional high schools boasted an unprecedented rate of 98.6% for the 2020-2021 school year. This is the 5th consecutive year that the graduation rate for SLPS is above 90%. Oak Hammock K-8, 7th grade math students in the Raptors pod put a Florida spin on the new meaning to melting in the snow.  Students were engaged and challenged by their math teacher Mr. Ortiz, to take a different approach to solve for the circumference of a circle given the radius or diameter.  Building on their prior knowledge and skills, students made sense of the problems based upon real world application and persevered to solve them. Monarch Musicians from Mariposa Elementary made their grand debut at the winter concert. This officially broke a two-year hiatus of students performing on stage. Students and parents alike were overjoyed to hear three different performing ensembles. The three ensembles were tubano drumming, chorus, and Orff xylophone band. The selected fourth and fifth grade students dedicated after-school time to participate in preparing music for their ensemble. Lakewood Park Elementary students can earn Falcon Bucks every day for being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. They have a chance to shop at the PBIS cart every week to spend those “bucks”. Some of these students chose to use their Falcon Bucks to purchase a ticket to be the Assistant Principal for 30 minutes. They were trained to be an Assistant Principal by walking with our Principal, Mrs. Walukiewicz, and helping her with some of her responsibilities. Students at Lakewood Park Elementary had an opportunity to use their Falcon Bucks today for a Holiday Cookie Decorating and Movie Party. Mrs. Keim, former LWP teacher, and our volunteer, baked all of the cookies for students to decorate. Students decorated their cookies with icing and sprinkles. While they were decorating they watched a holiday movie and at the end played holiday games. We are so proud of our Falcons for being Responsible, Respectful, and Safe.
