Rivers Edge Elementary School leadership class students visited a local nursing home to spread some joy for the holidays.  They sang carols, and served punch and cookies, along with distributing gifts to all the residents.  The students were encouraged to chat with the residents and left with stories, full hearts and a few new friends!  Pictured is Mackenzie Jock, from Melinda White’s fifth grade class, spreading a little cheer as she speaks with one of the residents. Also pictured are fifth graders Megan Massey and Carley Johnson.  Thank you leadership team for bringing miles of smiles to share!  

Officers from the United States Coast Guard station in Ft. Pierce visited Rivers Edge Elementary School recently to discuss water safety and the role of the United States Coast Guard with students in all first grade classes. The students were extremely excited to get on board the 25ft RBS SAFE boat. Rivers Edge Elementary recently celebrated the official launch of its new All Pro Dad chapter on Friday, September 19th with an impressive turnout of nearly 70 fathers, father-figures, and students.  The event marked the beginning of a year-long initiative aimed at strengthening family bonds and promoting character development through monthly themed gatherings. Students in Lisa Bradley’s kindergarten class at Rivers Edge Elementary School recently picked their own pumpkins from the school’s Ppumpkin patch. Students counted pumpkin seeds, weighed and measured, learned about the growth cycle and sorted shapes to make decorative faces as they ended their unit on Cornucopia.

The Rivers Edge Elementary student canned food drive was a huge success!  The food was distributed to many families and everyone was grateful for the help during the holiday season.  Pictured, from left, are students from Sandra Foley’s fourth grade class Esbeydy Dumas, Pasquale Giallongo,  Derrick Brooks, Kayla Mayes and Megan Dugan.    

The 4th and 5th Grade Chorus from Rivers Edge Elementary, under the direction of Mrs. Amy Martinkovic, entertained the participants at Relay for Life in St. Lucie West.  

On Thursday, February 11, Rivers Edge 3rd Graders were gifted their very own dictionary. Representatives from Rotary International brought one for every 3rd grader in the school. This supports their goal of increasing literacy in our country. Rivers Edge is grateful for our community helping our students receive the best education possible.

Second graders at Rivers Edge have been exploring the enchanting life cycle of butterflies, observing their incredible transformation from larvae to beautiful, winged creatures. Witnessing this firsthand reinforces the ideas of growth, change, and the wonders of the natural world. After studying the butterfly life cycle, Ms. Lago’s class finally had the chance to release them, and it was a breathtaking moment to watch them take flight! Students and parents had a great time becoming the “ringmasters” of their 7th Grade content at Palm Pointe’s 7th Grade Family Carnival. Students participated in “Escape 7th Grade,” a Civics Escape Room on the Articles of Confederation. Students also solved math problems to pop balloons for prizes, answered text-based questions in ELA to “go fish,” and made a laser maze in Science. Thanks to all who joined us!

Students at Oak Hammock K-8 are learning to make good choices that can be rewarding. Each month, one student from each grade, who has not received a BIR or referral for the month, is randomly selected to receive a gift bag from the Dean’s office. Congratulations to the students of Oak Hammock who do the right thing. We are watching and catching you at your best!

Parents, Grandparents and friends of third, fourth and fifth grade students at Morningside Elementary gathered on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 to celebrate Principal’s honor roll (all A’s including conduct), A/B honor roll, and perfect attendance.  Principal, Cortina Bell-Gray congratulated students and gave them special pencils and academic achievement bracelets.  

C. A. Moore hosted their first Business Partner Breakfast. Special visitors Jacklyn Davis, the granddaughter of Mr. Chester A. Moore and D’Andrea Davis, the great- granddaughter stopped by to visit their grandfather’s school while visiting from Miami. Our business partners were amazed by the history shared about the school.

Sixth grade Panther team students at Forest Grove Middle School had the unique opportunity to welcome and honor a returning veteran,  Captain Brandon Joseph Richard Gray, USAF. Captain Gray is the son of Rik Gray at Lincoln Park Academy and Pam Gray at Forest Grove Middle School. Captain Gray has just returned from a six-month tour in Afghanistan. Northport K-8 School was delighted to host retired United States Navy Lt. Commander Jerry Padrta recently as a guest speaker for students in Nick Carey, Georgia Stone, Carla Caldwell, Mindi Slater and Tracey Healy’s fifth and middle grades classes. LCDR Padrta spoke to the students about his upbringing as a child in Northern Minnesota, the hardships and the driving cold weather. He spoke about his school and college experience and perhaps most intriguing to the students and teachers, his naval career spent in a submarine.
