Rivers Edge 2nd Graders Take Flight

Second graders at Rivers Edge have been exploring the enchanting life cycle of butterflies, observing their incredible transformation from larvae to beautiful, winged creatures. Witnessing this firsthand reinforces the ideas of growth, change, and the wonders of the natural world. After studying the butterfly life cycle, Ms. Lago’s class finally had the chance to release them, and it was a breathtaking moment to watch them take flight!

The students were thrilled to see the butterflies emerge from their chrysalises, a process they had eagerly anticipated for weeks. They learned about the different stages of metamorphosis, including the egg, larva, pupa, and adult butterfly. The hands-on experience allowed them to connect with nature in a meaningful way, fostering a sense of responsibility and care for living creatures. As the butterflies fluttered away, the children cheered and waved, feeling a sense of accomplishment and joy.
