FPC Students Attend College Fair

Fort Pierce Central High School students enjoyed sampling the possibilities of their academic futures this week at the district’s college fair. Dozens of universities and colleges came out to introduce our students to their academic institutions and their program offerings. Students filled out interest cards, talked about admission expectations, and scholarship opportunities. Cobras left the fair feeling more informed and ready to make plans towards their post-high school success. Thank you to Mrs. Armada, 12th grade Assistant Principal, and Mrs. Herbert, Counseling Director for coordinating our student participation.

Bayshore Celebrates Grandparents Day

Bayshore Elementary hosted Grandparents Day!  “Grandparents have ears that always listen, arms that always hug and hold, love that’s never-ending, and a heart that’s made of gold.” Thank you to all of the Grandparents/friends who came to celebrate with us. .

Allapattah Students Participate in School-Wide PBIS Activities!

Allapattah’s first PBIS Event of the school year was Bingo! Students were able to use Gator Bucks for an opportunity to participate in Bingo! Students that won Bingo received a sweet prize. Students earn Gator Bucks by demonstrating our PBIS Expectations: Responsible, Respectful, and Safe. Allapattah has monthly PBIS events to encourage students to follow school-wide expectations.

SRE 5th Grade Living Organisms Activities

Savanna Ridge Elementary’s 5th grade students in Mrs. Spencer’s class enjoyed learning about living organisms through various projects and activities. Celery Experiment – Explored the process of water moving upward through the plant’s stem and into the leaves. Human Organs – students researched human organs and their functions.  The students did this as a jigsaw activity and followed up with a video report. FPC Ceramics II Students Dazzle in Texture

Mrs. Avra’s Ceramics II students started off the year by sampling a dozen textures. Texture is an Element of Art that describes and interprets the perceived or actual surface feeling of an object. Students were encouraged to investigate textures from nature by taking a walk outside, exploring their homes from garage to kitchen, and observing textures during their day-to-day lives while filling up a sketchbook page of 12 texture thumbnails, some in color, exploring high contrast, overlapping, depth, and the four qualities of line: thin to thick, light to dark, straight to undulating, and continuous to interrupted. Palm Pointe P.B.I.S. Lunch Incentive

Palm Pointe had their first Sit With A Friend day! Students who paid 10 Rocket Fuel were able to sit with friends from other classes during lunch time as a part of their P.B.I.S program.

21 Century students at CAM created paper laptops. They colored, cut, and glued their internal computer components into their paper motherboards. This skill will help them to identify alphabet keys on a keyboard.

Port St. Lucie High Culinary Arts Hosts Virtual Field Trip

Port St. Lucie High School Culinary Arts students hosted a virtual field trip for middle school students. Students from Dan McCarty Middle, St. Lucie West K8, Southern Oaks Middle, and Oak Hammock K8 stayed in their classrooms and via Microsoft Teams were able to meet Chef Foerster and his Culinary Arts students. FPC Gardening Club Goes Hydroponic!

Gardening Club President, Senior Jessica Aguilera tends to the newly planted and sprouting microgreens and gourds in the hydroponics unit. The FPC Gardening Club is operating in its second year. Students have been planting fall season seeds and germinating Florida-hearty plants. From adding to the collective compost and churning new soil, Gardening Club members get the full experience of planting and growing from the ground up. Bayshore Elementary 5th Grade Scientists

Scientists use models to help them visualize things that are difficult to see and understand. Our 5th graders made models of the Respiratory system, Muscular/ skeletal system, and digestive system and dissected a flower to help further their knowledge of living things.

Colts Identify Mystery Substances by Testing pH

Eighth graders in Mr. Nicks’ science class at Samuel Gaines Academy of Emerging Technologies (SGAET) identify unknown compounds by testing their chemical properties. pH indicator (Anthocyanin) was made by boiling red cabbage and collecting the purple solution that was produced. This indicator changes color based on the acidity or alkalinity of the substance it is added to. Students made observations on the color change in their lab reports and attempted to identify the unknown substances based on the known pH of common household solutions. Southport Students Enjoy After-School Karaoke Club

Students at Southport Middle School share melodies of joy and enjoy singing a tune during the after-school Karaoke Club. They have the option to choose songs and sing along in either groups or solo, and their melodies inspire diversity as they expose their peers to their different musical tastes.

A Cobra Tradition Another wonderful FPC Senior Breakfast for the 23-24 Graduating Class! Thank you to the Senior Class Sponsors Ami Foreman and Marian Davis. A special thank you to Mrs. Santoro for the celebratory balloons. All students enjoyed the outing with their classmates. Experiences and moments like Senior Breakfast make senior year the most memorable time in young lives!

POW/MIA Ceremony

On Friday, September 15th, the Port Saint Lucie Jaguar Battalion attended the POW/MIA Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Park to honor prisoners of war and those missing in action. Cadets were given a candle to light while guest speaker Retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Army Bobbie Williams spoke about the powerful sacrifice from the POW/MIA’s. Cadets were also able to witness the unveiling of the POW/MIA chair which symbolizes those who have not returned. It was a great success for all of the cadets that attended.
