On February 3rd, Bayshore VPK, Kindergarten, and first-grade students celebrated the 100th day of school. Celebrating the 100th day of school is a fun and educational milestone for students and teachers. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the learning journey thus far and to engage in creative activities that reinforce concepts taught throughout the year. Huddling around a bonfire with close friends on a crisp winter evening is something many of us can recall fondly. For the first time at “new” Central, this time-honored tradition returned on Friday, February 7th. As teachers and staff gathered around 5:30, the burn area was already set and ready to light. A mini study focusing on natural selection and competition was carried out in Dr. Venzen’s 5th-grade Science classroom. The characteristic that student scientists explored was adaptation. Upcoming scientists were made aware that adaptation to an environment is not solely based on the seasons. The food items students used were black beans, popcorn seed, lima beans, small red beans, and large red beans. The food items were first distributed, and then students were randomly given their beak utensils. Students quickly realize the quantity of food they would be able to gather based on their beaks. This past weekend, FPC’s incredible musicians showed up and showed out at the Solo & Ensemble Festival, earning 13 Excellent ratings and 52 Superior ratings across both band and guard! The Living Voices performance, funded by InSIGHT Through Education, provided 6th-grade students at Manatee K-8 with an educational experience that went beyond traditional classroom learning, offering them an immersive and emotional connection to history. By presenting the story from Sarah’s perspective, a composite character based on real testimonies, the performance allowed students to engage with the Holocaust in a deeply personal way.
