Palm Pointe Rockets Soar as Superheroes

Students at Palm Pointe pulled out all the stops to act as Superheroes for the Toys for Tots program. Students and staff made a donation to the Toys for Tots program to support local kids in need. All proceeds raised will be used to purchase toys that will be used for this initiative. Our kids really are Super Heroes and are always ready to “Save the Day.”  

“The Best Part” of Palm Pointe Artists

Middle school artists were inspired by the book, The Best Part of Me by Wendy Ewald.  The artists discussed Ewalt’s photography project.  Artists were then asked to identify the part of themselves that represents the best of who they are.  Learning basic photography skills, artists took self portraits of the best part of them.  Diving deeper into their positive self- image, artists brainstormed reasons why this was their best part.  They added reasons to their self portraits using photo editing software.  The result is striking photography that makes the artist and the audience feel good.  This project helped shine a … Read More

Palm Pointe Recognizes Project Citizen Winners

The Project Citizen National Showcase was recently held, where students from Massachusetts to Arizona tackled problems in their community. Students from Mrs. Wright’s 3rd period Civics class from last school year earned an Exceptional rating on their project, “Water We Waiting For?” Last January, Hannah Dorval, Devin Habyan, Alexia Morgan, and Caleb Chuquillanqui represented their class at the district showcase, where they presented the class project, seeking to combat the high rate of child drownings in the state of Florida by proposing changes to public policy.  They were interviewed by multiple judges and answered questions about their proposed policy, which helped the … Read More

Rockets Soar at the State BETA Convention!

Palm Pointe 4th – 8th grade BETA members soared, at the 2019 BETA Florida Junior Convention! So many memories were made, as these students represented our school with poise, determination and creativity. Our very own Laney Keys, Vice President of the Junior Beta for the State of Florida, commanded the stage several times and our students were recognized for 18 awards in the various categories! Palm Pointe Kindergarten Celebrates Harvest Festival and Friendship Feast

All year long, Kindergarten Rockets have been tending their garden of fresh herbs, vegetables, and greens.  Students were excited to harvest some of their produce to create fresh, homemade salsa using cilantro and green peppers from the gardens.  To quench their thirst, they also made a lemonade that they incorporated fresh mint into. Palm Pointe Students Win Cheribundi Art Award

Palm Pointe Artists win the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Art Contest. Congratulations to Elementary School Division First Place Winner: Naima Guerrier – grade 5, and Middle School Division First Place Winner: Miyanna Morgan – grade 8. Students from St. Lucie County and Palm Beach County were asked to complete an artwork using “football and health” as the theme. The first place winners will be honored and recognized at the Head Coach’s Press Conference and on-field during the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl on December 21, 2019. Palm Pointe 1st Grade Vocabulary Parade

Palm Pointe First Grade students celebrated their love for reading and learning new vocabulary words by making their assigned word come to life during a vocabulary parade! Students came dressed in a costume that exemplified their word.  They had an opportunity to share their word with family members and other students by marching across the stage and presenting their word to everyone.  We can’t wait to see our rockets use these new words in their speaking and writing.

Installation Art Made it’s Mark this Month at Palm Pointe Educational Research School

The middle school art program, under the instruction of Mrs. Susan Wessel, studied the work of Mark Jenkins, who is an installation artist from Washington D.C.  Students created sculptural pieces resembling Jenkin’s work.  Artists used packaging tape to construct the life size sculptures.  They planned their sculpture’s location and purpose throughout the campus including the buddy bench, school library, common areas, and school garden.  The Palm Pointe artists’ objective was to make their fellow students stop, look and think about the art they see.  It is so exciting to see the impact the sculptures are having around campus.  Artists definitely … Read More

Palm Pointe Celebrates September’s SEL Empowerment Day

During the month of September, Palm Pointe students participated in social emotional learning (SEL) activities, discussions, and community circles focused around the theme of Empowerment.  On Friday, September 27th, students and staff wore yellow to show that they support the empowerment of others.  Empowerment is defined as, “…the belief that people, and more specifically our youth, have the ability to implement positive change in their own lives and the lives of others, and contribute to something larger than themselves.”  When we promote empowerment we can cultivate each others’ ability to share their gifts, talents, and abilities, and develop their voices … Read More

Palm Pointe Summer Reading Carnival

Palm Pointe Educational Research School held a reward Carnival for students who participated in the Summer Reading Program.  In order for students to attend, they had to read a minimum of two chapter books, one of them being a Sunshine State Reader book.  Additionally, students had to create thinking maps that demonstrated they comprehended what they read.  At the carnival, students participated in activities including ski ball, bowling, basketball, dancing, and a variety of other carnival games.  Students also enjoyed snacks and prizes as they participated in the activities.  The carnival was filled with smiles, as students celebrated their reading … Read More

Lights, Camera, Cook-Off!

Fourth and Fifth Grade students at Palm Pointe competed in a cooking challenge on Tuesday, May 14th and Thursday, May 16th.  Fifty students participated in the event and showed off their cooking skills on Tuesday, and 40 competed on Thursday.  In order to participate, students had to read the book entitled Lights, Camera, Cook.  It was a Sunshine State Reader book for 2018-19.  In addition to reading the book, they had to pass a quiz or complete a graphic organizer showing they gained comprehension of the book.  Students were placed on teams of 5-6 and had a parent volunteer who … Read More

Palm Pointe 4th Graders Write in their E”LAB”Oration Stations

On Friday, March 29th, Palm Pointe fourth graders participated in an exciting day of writing e”lab” oration stations.  Students had an opportunity to travel to different stations and refine their writing through various mini-lessons and practice.  They were thrilled to show what they know after working hard all year on the writing process.  Towards the end of the day, students got to participate in a balloon drop that included balloons with positive messages to let them know they can do it.  Students will take their FSA Writing Assessment on Tuesday, April 2nd.

Palm Pointe 1st Graders held a “Read to Your Sweetheart” event on February 13th.  Parents and families were invited to  celebrate all of the reading accomplishments that their first graders have made.  Boys and girls shared their love of reading with those that mean the most to them.

Palm Pointe Jazz Bands Achieve Superior Rating at District 13 Jazz Band Festival

On Thursday, January 31st, the Jazz Bands from Palm Pointe participated in the Florida Bandmasters District 13 Jazz Band Performance Music Assessment at St. Lucie West Centennial High School where they were evaluated by a panel of three state certified Jazz Adjudicators. We are proud to announce that both bands achieved straight superior ratings, which is the highest possible rating. Congratulations to the Palm Pointe students and staff on this awesome achievement.

Rockets Celebrate 100 Days at Palm Pointe

Palm Pointe kindergarten and first grade students came all decked out to celebrate the 100th day of school.  Boys and girls were seen using their walkers and canes to get around school today as they were dressed as 100 year old ladies and gentlemen.  Some of the students took the time to create shirts with 100 items on them.  Wow, are these students creative!   They were all thrilled to celebrate their 100 days of learning thus far.

Palm Pointe Rockets Soar at Beta Convention

Palm Pointe’s Junior Beta members attended the Florida State Beta Convention in Orlando this week.  The National Beta Organization is a service based group that focuses on cultivating the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service among students. This organization celebrates students who strive to become the leaders of tomorrow. Students competed in individual and group competitions against other Beta chapters. Our Palm Pointe students placed in 17 different competitions and Laney Keys, one of our 7th grade students, was elected Beta Vice President for the State of Florida. Palm Pointe Middle School Escape Room Event

Students and families at Palm Pointe Educational Research School came out to participate in an Escape Room Event.  This event was designed to allow students to work together in solving various academic tasks that led them to clues.  These clues revealed special codes to lock boxes that revealed their next tasks.  Escape room tasks included different types of government systems, FSA Mathematical questions, language and editing tasks, and research on the inventions of Benjamin Franklin.  Students had to use black lights and QR codes to assist them in revealing the correct answers.  Both students and families had a terrific time … Read More

Palm Pointe Enchanted Forest Book Fair

Palm Pointe students and parents really enjoyed our Fall Book Fair.  The theme this year is the Enchanted Forest.  Many dedicated parent volunteers gave of their time and talents to transform our the Media Center into a magical land filled with books and surprises.  Gnomes, fairies, and unicorns were hiding around every corner.  The fair ran from November the 5th through November the 15th.  

Palm Pointe Second Graders Create Pumpkin Book Characters

Second grade students at Palm Pointe were working on their summarizing skills this week.  Students were allowed to select a grade appropriate book of their choice and were tasked with retelling the events by giving a thorough summary of the book.  In addition to their summary, students used pumpkins to create a representation of one of the main characters in the book.  The second grade team invited all staff and students to come by and visit their storybook pumpkin display.  How amazing and creative our Palm Pointe students are!

Palm Pointe Students Stomp Out Bullying!

Students came to school all decked out in orange to take a stand against bullying.  They wanted to send a clear message that they don’t support bullying and that they won’t be a bystander.  Way to go, students!  Together, let’s stomp out bullying for good.
