Palm Pointe Kindergarten students enjoyed an exciting learning opportunity this week when St. Lucie County Firefighters came to their school to teach them about fire safety. October is fire safety month, and to celebrate this initiative, students had an opportunity to interact with our local firefighter heroes.  Students learned what to do in the event of a fire, how to safely exit their home, how and when to call 911, and the importance of coming up with a family plan during a fire emergency.  They were able to explore the firetruck and tools used by the firemen. Students are having a fabulous time enjoying cookies and hot chocolate at their book club.  Over 60 students, ranging from grades 5-8, are currently participating in a book club reading, The House With a Clock in It’s Walls, by John Bellairs.  Students meet in the mornings with Media Specialist Amy Fazzalaro to read and discuss the book.  After completing the book, everyone will meet at the movie theater to view the film.  It is exciting to see our students thrilled about reading.    

Mayor Greg Oravec visited Palm Pointe 3rd graders to discuss how the mayor’s role is important for our local government. The students really enjoyed asking lots of questions and interacting with Mayor Oravec.

Over 600 Rockets in grades 1-8 took part in a “Reading is Fun!” Carnival on August 31st.  During the carnival students played games, danced, and enjoyed a tasty treat.  Students qualified for the carnival by completing the Summer Reading Challenge.  Many thanks to all of our volunteers, teachers, and staff members for making the event a success.  Fun was had by all!
